Very nice large room with a balcony, the pool was nice to relax in, the front desk staff were friendly and helpful, the inclusive breakfast was simple but enjoyable. Old World Charm
I used to walk past Hotel Santo Tomas every day. I would look through the gate at that pretty jellybean swimming pool and think, “one day I’ll stay here.“ 20 years later here I am. It is charming. The staff is friendly. All of which makes up for the fact that it is an old building. The wooden floor creeks a little bit. Well worth my two- night stay.

This part of San Jose is now considered unsafe and is rather desolate looking. The owner is a sweetheart and very helpful. The room was rudimentary, not all that clean and ran out of hot water for the second morning shower (we were two of us). Breakfast is good, the pool area and the pool itself are pretty. What makes this place is the owner.

Such a beautiful property - truly a hidden gem in the historic district. Reminded me so much of New Orleans. All the rooms are different and unique with such beautiful furniture and decor. Santo Tomas is a lovely historic hotel. The owner was so helpful and upgraded us to a balcony room free of charge when we arrived. I would definitely recommend staying here it's a very central location and it has a great Vietnamese restaurant across the street called Cafe Rosa.
