Overall, I would rate this hotel 3 out of 5 stars. The biggest advantage was the location. It was less than a 10-minute walk to the Richmond Night Market, which was the main reason I chose this hotel. I stayed in a room with two queen beds, and the room was clean and comfortable. The beds were comfortable, and I especially liked that the shampoo, conditioner, and lotion were provided in large wall-mounted dispensers rather than small travel-sized bottles. Breakfast was average but provided enough variety to start the day without needing to spend money elsewhere. Free parking was also appreciated. On the downside, there was construction taking place during my stay, which took away from the overall lobby atmosphere. The staff handling check-in and check-out were fine, but there was nothing particularly memorable about the service. I also called the front desk three times over a 30-minute period with a question and never received an answer, so I ended up going down to the lobby to find someone in person. Additionally, the parking area felt somewhat small and limited. Overall, it was a decent stay with a convenient location, but a few service and facility issues kept it from being higher than average.

Other than the location, I would not recommend this hotel. The breakfast was only so so. The way the bathroom is arranged is terrible. The fire alarm went off. They’re doing construction, which is loud and therefore there are no public areas. There wasn’t even anyone at the front table (not even a desk) when we got there. Their shuttle to the cruise terminal was overpriced.

Friendly stuff, however, property is undergoing construction parking is difficult to find room is very tight with very limited storage smell of chemicals and noise of constant running fan, which cannot be turned off. It is not fair to charge customer these prices at the standard it needs to be downgraded somehow so people are aware of it.

This place is a dump. Crappy bed, bullet holes in the window, tiny and pillows that made my neck cramp up the next day like it never has before. It’s my bad, but when I booked with Expedia it did not say that this room was non-refundable and I wanted to change it prior to my trip but realized that there was a no refund policy. Rather than wasting the $300 we stayed the night…but next time I’ll read the policy better and make sure. For an extra $100 you are way way better off stating at the Fairmont.
