Beautiful hotel and grounds - larger than average rooms with very comfortable beds and great views of the ocean. 5 minutes walk to town centre for all restaurants however hotel food was very good too. Pool area and spa wonderful too !

Loved the property and the staff. Only issue we had was when it rained hard we could hear it constantly in the room on second floor - beyond what I would say is normal for a hotel. It sounded like there was a tin roof instead of a ceiling. The staff and food was incredible and same with overall rooms. Despite the rain issues would stay here again any day.

We came away for two nights to be close to the beach and within easy drive of the two wine valleys - Elgin and Hemel en-Arde. The welcome by hotel staff was superb and we thought highly of the Pavilion Restaurant. The sea view room was well appointed and we loved the high quality bed linen.

Despite a few issues Michel, General Manager, went out of his way to ensure we had a wonderful time at the hotel. His team clearly enjoy being at the hotel and ensuring everyone is having a great time and helping out with any queries or reservations. Ensure you take a trip to Creation for the wine tasting which is memorable. We will return for Whale watching next year.

The location of this historic hotel is magnificent, on the cliff edge high above the sea. It has wonderful views of Walker Bay and is very accessible to the town centre. The staff and service are excellent. We loved our charming room. The interiors are beautiful, the main lounge has been redecorated and is stunning. We loved having breakfast outside in the front of the hotel with sea views. Excellent wifi, easy free parking. We would love to return and would recommend this hotel.

Fantastic location, good ambience, top breakfast, but not as good as same group hotel Plettenberg. Nice old buildings, but need more maintenance. “Tired” and old noisy windows kept me awake in nights , because of strong winds. Staff tried to fix, but no luck. Same reason wind made it gold in the room. Still very good and memorable stay.

Great hotel to stay in Hermanus.
We booked this location thinking we were going to see the whales but got it wrong. They have moved on after October/November and we went early December. Having said that we are really pleased that we stayed in Hermanus for a few nights. It is a beautiful place and a world away from Cape town. The Marine is a delightful hotel with fantastic food, a nice quiet pool area and a short walk from many restaurants and shops. We had a lovely room although we did not pay extra for a sea view. Since there were no whales to see that was fine.

Marine Hermanus,
We loved our room it was small but very comfortable, the issue we came upon was that there were peanuts on the floor when we checked in, we spoke to reception who then spoke to housekeeping who must have picked up the peanuts as we didn't find them when we came back to the room. The hotel is our favourite in Hermanus, and the upgrading of the rooms are an absolute positive enhancement to a fabulously positioned hotel.
