Had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The team of staff are brilliant - passionate about providing the perfect level of care and attention. Attentive, helpful and courteous they really went out of their way to make guests feel welcome and content. Our room was fabulous - it had everything we needed to enjoy our stay and beautifully decorated. The bed was very comfortable, we slept so well. It was quite a warm day so the fan in the room was welcome. Set in the East Wing we were away from the main house, which was perfect as we had our dog with us. He had a little welcome pack, which was a nice touch. He loved the grounds as did we.

This was my first stay here, something good amd bad. I booked a “Parkland View” room, but at first they gave me a room that felt like an attic—it was hard to see the park view at all. I went to the front desk, and they immediately moved me to a better room. As someone who travels frequently for business, I think they should have given me a better room from the start; occupancy rates probably aren’t very high on weekdays. The standard rooms don’t have air conditioning—just a fan. so in early October, I had no choice but to sleep with the window open. The soundproofing between the rooms and the hallways is really poor. Breakfast is amazing!

We had a great weekend at Ashdown Park hotel for our anniversary! Definitely recommend having a treatment at the Country Club. The Anderida restaurant is special, fantastic food but pricey- we knew this before we went. The Forest Brasserie was a bit disappointing, the menu wasn’t that exciting and the drinks are overpriced. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The grounds are stunning. Would definitely recommend

The hotel and especially the grounds are beautiful. If I had known how far away from reception and more importantly the numbers of stairs I had to climb to get there, I would have accepted the proffered carrying of my bags to the room. I enjoyed my stay, the barbecue we had outside was excellent, although one of the guests had to carry the fizz outside herself from the chapel, where it had already been poured. My room was very hot being on the top floor and the fan was useless. Luckily I was able to open a window. The bed was comfortable, but the plumbing was terribly loud and took ages to stop after you had finished your shower.

The grounds are beautiful, the staff are great! We had breakfast which tasted good! The spa was relaxing but there is a bit of wear and tear in places. Overall it was a lovely night away - one thing to highlight: the bed and pillows are very soft, we usually sleep on a firm mattress and have fun pillows so we don’t sleep well and woke up a bit achey; but this is very subjective. Also the hairdryer in the room was really weak so being your own if visiting or use the ones in the spa’s changing room.

This hotel is the goal standard. Management from other hotels should come and visit it. From beginning to end the service engagement with well informed and genuinely welcoming. It’s a very interesting historical setting. When they say they are dog friendly, they genuinely are.
