A good hotel in a good location. Decent breakfast, which never runs dry. The room was fine, and the sea view is definitely worth it as you get the sun on your balcony as well. I did not require it, but they lay on a free bus into the centre of Funchal, which is useful if you're older and/or can't be bothered to find parking in the city centre.
I spent a lot of time out and about, but if you go at the right time of year you could easily spend a whole day just lounging by the pools, sunbathing, going to the restaurant and the bar, playing tennis, sitting in the jacuzzi, etc.
My only gripe was that my bed was a bit uncomfortable, because the mattress was very firm.
Also, although the hotel advertises a safe in the room (desirable if you've got an expensive laptop, etc), this costs a few euros for every day you're there. I think that's wrong.
It also advertises a sauna and steam room, but you have to pay to use it (5 euros per person). In most other hotels this is included in the cost.
