Value
Place is in middle of a refurb. Think I was first to stay in my refurbed room - key lock didn’t work nor did radiator- maintenance fixed it within record time. Staff were lovely. Restaurant food really good. Good value. Place still looks really tired in parts but the work being done is really nice (see photos) and once finished should be aesthetically very good.

Room(s) for Improvement
The public areas are fresh/bright but my room was tired and not in brilliant condition. Very old shower, fluorescent tube lights, desk area with light had no power sockets, desk area with socket had no light. Radiator control knob fell off, radiator didn't work, etc. Restaurant food was good but zero ambiance; absolute silence or a commercial radio station. Staff were effective but not very attentive. Did feel like a typical Best Western though.

Stayed here a few times but with the refurb looks great! Rooms lovely and welcoming. Only downside is I couldn’t find a way to turn the heating up/down but I didn’t ask either. Great hotel!

Won’t be returning
We named this hotel Faulty Towers. On arriving we were initially given room 11 which awfully dated, the shower mat was black, the heating wasn’t working and it was icy conditions outside. We complained and were given room 24 which was modern and clean. We went to go to the spa area, the jacuzzi was out of order, the pool was colder than the cold water in the shower, changing rooms freezing cold. We didn’t spend long there and went back to room for a hot shower, only to find my towel was dirty. (Picture attached). We went for a drink at the bar but had to search for staff. We ordered a glass Prosecco and a pint of beer at the cost of £15! Wouldn’t return.
