Not sure how this place rated so high on reviews. Jungle surroundings are beautiful, but the hotel, rooms and grounds were terrible. Host, Cisco did all he could to make things better and even took us to town and grocery store to pick up a few things. Grounds were unkept, Pool was dirty and algae growing in it, Room smelled like ammonia with a water leak (they moved us), No hot water, No working TV, Light bulbs 1/2 working, Terrible beds and pillows. No coffee for guests. We had to ask for it and then made it for the other guests. Unknown local characters just hanging around and looking into our windows. Do not recommend this place unless they get their act together.

Everything was nice and clean and pretty new looking. That being said, I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 just because of some small things that seem unfinished around the room we had. Like they were very new and didn't have enough silverware or plates, cups and glasses. We had enough as it was only 2 of us, but if you had more, you would have been short. And things like the light switches need to be finished in.
The tap water was safe to drink but often got cloudy so you would have to wait for it clear up.
The pool was very nice to have after a long day of hiking.
It was convenient to have the Torraille waterfall right there but really, you don't need a lot of time there to experience it.
The driveway was super steep so just be prepared for that. We had a small economy car and it did just fine but we were definitely nervous the first time going down and up the driveway.
Wendel was a great property manager and was excellent about responding to texts!
I would recommend it to anyone looking to stay somewhere with a local feel as opposed to a big resort hotel.
