Great hotel for the price
Very good Manhattan hotel to stay at, relatively speaking, for the price. One of two elevators didn't work the first day, important for a hotel 28 stories tall. Also, the scaffolding in the front of the hotel (for maintenance) detracted from the appearance of the hotel, and made it harder to find the hotel.

They never cleaned our room at all and we stayed there for 5 nights. When I checked in they said they would clean it every other day but that never happened. We ended up having to bring out our dirty towels and trash and constantly asking for more clean towels/toilet paper/kleenix. The restaurant/bar is awful as well. The only good part was the area that it is in has great restaurant options. We paid way tooo much to stay here.

Horrible customer service!
Horrible experience.. the hotel did not have my reservation but hotels.com did. They would not give me a room and was on the phone with hotels.com for 75 minutes only to be told there was a discrepancy and that one of the companies would reimburse my $433 and I had to cancel my night in NYC. A few days later I was informed that I was no longer getting a refund since the hotel says it was non refundable even though they did not have my reservation and would not give me a room and hotels.com said it was out of their hands even though their first customer service agent promised me a refund no matter what. I will not be using either company in the future.

Disappointing
The room we reserved was not available when we arrived, the hotel staff said that they did not have any rooms with 2 beds available at all. I was traveling with my two children, so a King room was not an option. I was working with Hotels.com to find another room, when amazingly, the hotel staff informed me that they did have a room with two beds and that they would refund me $200 for not having the room with a terrace that I reserved. It was all very odd, very disappointing. We will not be back.

We were in nyc for the us open & chose the garden inn for its location being close to the E line & easy transfers. Our stay became one of the most disappointing & frustrating hotel experience- so much inconvenience, runarounds, & incorrect room charges. Room was quite small for double queen (no room for unpacking easily, openly) clean but fridge door & ac control panel needed fixing. Our main issue was the bathroom that smelled so much of mildew & no working vent. I brought this up to the front desk immediately & repeatedly requested for room change or any solution but we were only verbally reassured & never given any further assistance, so towards the end of our stay we felt blatantly misled. The manager who the staff said was responsible for assisting us also never seemed to be in. I’d rather have been told we would be stuck with our room rather than being blindly assured & led to believe something was to be done, as I made too many unnecessary trips to the front desk to ask/follow-up on room services that should’ve been mentioned to us prior/during check-in, such as PLEASE NOTE housekeeping is every other day something we were never given notice on & inconveniently had to find out by ourselves. After our stay we were also incorrectly charged for breakfast that we’ve already included in our stay during booking & charged for the room water that we were told were free at check-in. Only upside was the water pressure but all in all a major headache and setback for our trip.

I chose the hotel for its proximity to an office building where I would be attending a meeting. The property was having some work done on the facade which had no impact on my stay. I found it to be quiet and the room was clean. No complaints at all and I would happily return.
