Metro Hotel Experience
Sadly the hotel is the worst I have ever used. It was inexpensive but the facilities mirrored the price. Cheap and nasty. Bed extremely uncomfortable, sleeping on the springs the first night, with a blanket under the sheet the second night ! Our room was directly over the bar area. Disco on the first night made the room vibrate, so sleep delayed till midnight. Fortunately the second night was quieter. Shower broken and shower tray was like a bath as plumbing was defective. Told staff - nothing done. Mould in the shower grout and fitments rusty. Breakfast as basic as it could be - we had to ask for dishes and marmalade. Cereals, toast and hot beverages, with fruit juices. Cutlery Filthy. Manager unsympathetic but she has run the hotel for only a few months - maybe if she paid attention to complaints and DID something about them the place will get better reviews on n the future. On a positive note the bed linen appeared clean.

Ok value for money
Pleasant staff and clean rooms. The only complaint would be the mattress, springs were sticking out and not very comfortable. For the price it was a nice place.

Very welcoming but room disappointing & noisy
Welcome at check in and first impressions good. However noisy during night (doors closing), could feel the springs in the mattress and hot water in shower did not work. Shame as effort had been made with decor but details let it down (bulbs out in bathroom, dirty cutlery etc)

Cheap and it shows.
The location was fine and room decor good, the thing that let it down was the bed ? Cheapest of mattress well worn and wobbly bed. The drinks were cheap and all the locals drink all day and evening outside. The breakfast was free but I would not of paid if you get my meaning. Seems a shame as I’ve never left a bad review ever but if I knew who to complain to I would! staff never asked if stay was good, it’s the just enough attitude prevails.

2/10 Poor

Room was not on the floor we were promised. Bathroom was extremely small (room 11). With no heating at all. No mirror above vanity unit . No wardrobes, just a freestanding clothes rail with 5 plastic hangers. Breakfast was disgusting! Tray left outside door of room. 2 stale Danish pastries, two small apples. Two single packs of cereal, 1 Cornflakes, 1 Rice Crispies, (for 2 adults). Certainly not worth the money we paid.

Very cold in the bathroom in room due to large gap around toilet outlet pipe. Room very near to guests entrance and was disturbed into the small hours with guests coming and going. Buffet breakfast very good.

Metro - good location
Double room was a little small but warm at night. Wardrobe was the tiniest I've ever seen, and our 3-days worth of clothes were squashed up. Room was very clean and tea/coffee/water replenished daily. Staff at the hotel were extremely friendly. Breakfast was ok for me (except on the third morning when they had run out of cold boiled eggs), my husband missed his cooked breakfast though, so it would be great if this could be offered. Decor throughout the hotel/pub/dining area is tastefully done. Hotel is in a great location but no free parking (Southport let's itself down on this part - too many double yellow lines and high parking prices), so we had to park a few streets away.

Very pleased with our stay.
A lovely stay in a modern refurbished hotel, welcomed by Chris, a very friendly and helpful young man who showed us to our room and helped with our bags. We were in room 2, facing to the front and with a super king size bed, a really nice room, very clean though the carpet has stains on what is obviously quite a new carpet, a shame when hotels try to keep a good standard and guests don't take a bit of care. The ensuite was clean and very modern. The continental breakfast was more than adequate, tea and coffee served by a very pleasant waitress and you help yourself to the rest. Very good value and a good location with a lively bar that was quiet from around 10.30pm. We would certainly stay again when in Southport. Not suitable if you cannot do stairs as all the rooms are upstairs and there is no lift.

One Night in Southport
We booked this hotel as we were going to watch Showaddywaddy at the Southport Theatre. We know and like Southport and as dinky were going to be involved we decided to stay over. The hotel is is excellently located for Lord St, the main shopping area and close to the park and then prom. Entering the Hotel it has a modern look and we were met by Chris who got us booked in and sorted quickly and efficiently. We had one of the smaller rims but was more than adequate for our needs. Rooms and Hotel were very clean and excellent standard. Mattress old have been a bit better. Had the full breakfast which was cooked as you waited, none of the stuff that is kept in warmers. A very good experience. We would go again and have recommended to our family and friends

Clean and functional
Check in was easy and we were shown to our room and shown the fire exit and how to use the late entry door. The room was clean and space was very well used. The bathroom was clean and compact, but we did wonder how larger folk would fare since the gap between the toilet nd the shower wall was rather small. Breakfast in the morning was continental and included some nice Danish pastries.

Great place and great location
When we arrived we were greeted and shown to our room, the room was clean and nicely decorated, toiletries in the en suite, complementary bottled water, we were shown the fire exits and entry for the building if we were to arrrive back late. The breakfast was continental and had plenty to fill you up before heading out for the day. We had a lovely stay and would be happy to stay at The Metro if we were in the area again.
