We recently stayed at 1970 Rooms, conveniently located close to Municipio station, with plenty of shops & restaurants in the vicinity. The hotel has a certain charm with a quirky retro look. The room we stayed in was minimal design, with a small fridge & an open storage area (pity there were only 3 clotheshangers!).
The owner seemed friendly & helpful. He offered to arrange excursions, etc., but we didn't take him up on this.
The hotel is located on the 2nd floor, but there's a mezzanine which really should be counted as a floor. It’s a total of 68 steps from the pavement to the rooms. There's an elevator too, but N.B it costs 0.50€ per use. It's located eight steps up from the pavement & there is a further step once inside the hotel.
One of the reasons why I chose this hotel was due to its listing on Expedia indicated a laptop compatible safe in every room. Unfortunately, the safe in our room wasn't compatible with a small laptop (see photo, the guidebook shows size of the safe). The owner told us that every room had its own safe code which we were told not to alter, something I have never encountered previously whilst travelling.
The room was listed being soundproofed. However, on more than one occasion we were awoken at 7am by laughter & talking in the next room. Every word was clearly audible.
The aircon functioned well, but we were told not to change the settings except for the temperature.
Overall, we had a pleasant enough stay despite the few things mentioned above.
