Room was fine but the water pressure is quite bad. You can hear your neighbors easily.

Lovely Old English pub/Hotel

A very old worldly old English local pub with very friendly staff and perfect for what I wanted

Clean, comfortable, nice breakfast. Place could do with a bit of a facelift.

A very interesting ancient inn. The town is spoilt by the fast roads going through the centre and the limited options for eating out other than in the hotel. The church is beautiful!

Quirky & Friendly

Great find, easy parking on the road outside. Food amazing, good fresh home cooked albeit the restaurant is open for limited hours. Friendly hosts, will definitely recommend it.

Quirky

Lovely little ‘quirky’ hotel. The owners were delightful and very helpful. Food was delicious. I did find the stairs to the room quite a challenge due to osteoarthritis, but mobile people wouldn’t find this an issue. The room was adequate and serviced daily. The was a tv - the fact that I could only get one channel at a set volume added to the overall experience. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room were replenished daily. Bathroom was small and could do with a touch of paint, but did what it needed to do. I could have done with a chair in the room, but there probably wasn’t enough space for one. Overall I enjoyed my stay and the little eccentricities of the place added to its charm.

Our room had several cracks in the walls and ceiling. The shower had very little power and the mattress was old and uncomfortable. Underneath the bed was very dusty. The breakfast was ok although no fresh fruit. But the staff were friendly and it wasn’t expensive. Given a choice we wouldn’t stay there again.

Good old fashioned pub hotel. Food is proper pub grub, wholesome and fresh. Oled world build, floors are uneven but give character. My go to place when in the area.

An amazing fresh home cooked breakfast with local produce, excellent menu. Limited parking to the side of the hotel, plenty of street parking just outside.

Not bad

The hotel was a very old coaching house so lots of beams and features. Bedrooms were good nice size but our bed was hard so by the time we left it was ok. Shower really only for very very small people. Food fantastic very good portions and hot at all times. Staff very friendly and helpful. It does have parking but very small entrance and spaces only for about 4 cars. We had an issue with the door lock to our room staff could open it but we had trouble couldn’t get in or out had really be forceful. Decided we wouldn’t stay again but would probably go there for food. The hotel is on a one way street but traffic wasn’t a problem during the night. Some of the clientele were interesting but it looks like it is the only pub in the town. Very dog friendly too.

Terrible place

I booked this hotel on the premise it was rated as being excellent. It is not. It’s one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in for service. We booked in and given a key to a room. We had to disturb the bar staff to ask where the room is and make our way to find it. The room was basic but clean. The mattress was full of jutting out springs (!) the furniture must have come from a junk shop as it was old, tatty and mismatched. No towel rails & had to ask for a hair dryer. Very thin walls. Breakfast advertised between 7 & 9 am. Waited in vain for 15 minutes from 7.00 but no staff in sight. There was no one around. Car park is a narrow alley with 4 spaces, filled with vans. No room for residents.

It's an old pub so expect quirks, but that said, lovely one night stay, breakfast was great!

An old English local pub/hotel. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Nice evening meals. Suited my needs of 'a bed for the night'. The room was clean with TV, kettle, tea, coffee and milk.
Annabel, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Staff were helpful and friendly, evening meals we had were good and reasonable priced. Room was clean but beds mattress were lumpy … could feel the springs almost pocking through. The shower was poor with only a trickle of water. Am afraid the breakfast didn’t live up to the evening meal, there wasn’t even a breakfast menu, no cereals or fruit juice etc , no toast and sausages were like cardboard, egg was under cooked , but at least it wasn’t over priced .

I have stayed at the Griffin many times and will continue to choose this venue above any others in the area. Its just a pub with rooms upstairs. It has a good restaurant, and thats exactly what I am looking for. Onsite parking is tight but I've never had any issue parking outside.

Old coach house in need of refreshing in the bars

450 yr old coach house in the middle of town. The staff helpful. Free parking, breakfast included. Rooms were good and clean with comfortable beds. The main bar and dining area needs a full revamp , carpet would benefit from being removed and the old wood flooring brought back to life, the odour of old stale smoke from an era of open fires still hangs in the air. It’s time for fresh blood to take the reins and the owner gentleman to think about enjoying his latter years and not trying to continue working to the end. I have empathy for his willpower but sometimes you need to consider calling time

Very friendly staff in an old pub / hotel setting. Room very clean and comfortable with a great breakfast in the morning. Great location for Snetterton race track that I was visiting
Mark, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

It's a 470 year old inn; so the floors are a bit wonky and there is no lift but the bedroom is otherwise good 3 star standard and the staff are courteous and helpful, the restaurant serves good Englsh cuisine at reasonable prices and the bar atmosphere is that of a village pub. and it couldn't be closer to the centre of town

The Griffin has character

Room clean and comfy with plenty of space. Be aware the floor in room not level but not a problem for us once we realised. Stairs to room a bit wobbly so you need to take care. Old building but clean. Breakfast was delicious with local butchers sausage and bacon. Parking a bit of a problem so we had to park in public car park for 3 Hours ( Free) until space available.
