Good choice for a Suffolk stay

Stayed here for a 2 night break. Friendly welcome and a lovely room (The Hayloft). Breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit and cereal to start and a nice home cooked breakfast. Great touch with having a toaster on the table to toast the delicious bread and enjoy the marmalade. Breakfast was efficient with no waiting. Liz and John have a delightful place for a stay.

A relaxing solo break in the Suffolk countryside

Situated just off the main road (A1120), this proved to be a homely and relaxing place to stay, within easy reach of the Suffolk coast around Dunwich. Clearly signposted, with ample car parking, a wholesome farmhouse breakfast and a lovely quiet garden, this was a real home from home. I took the single room in the old stable. This was neat, clean and cosy and had its own en suite with a powerful hot shower. Well recommended!

6/10 Good

Colston hall is owner run and the setting is superb, beautiful lake and tucked away in a quiet corner of the countryside. Because the owners live there there’s no reception so be sure to call if you have a later check in then 6:30. Bathroom seems recently refurbished, in my room one of the beds wasn’t made up which was fine as I was travelling solo for business. Couldn’t hang clothes in the wardrobe because of all the cobwebs so had to hand them from the ceiling, also lots and lots of cobwebs and dust in the bedroom, like balls of it. The beds and linens are very old lumpy and hard but the sheets were clean. I also could’ve done with an extra towel for a two night stay. Breakfast was nice the first day but the second morning I left at 8am and breakfast isn’t served until 8:30 so I missed out. Worth noting if you have an early start.

Very peaceful, beautifully converted farm buildings. Excellent breakfast. Not a complaint as such but quilt and pillows a bit lumpy, perhsps need replacing

We stayed here due to a wedding at nearby Bruisyard. It was a lovely stay and I couldn’t fault it, a beautiful setting full of nature and a very well preserved property. Liz was very accommodating allowing us to drop our luggage and car off earlier than check in; we also came down to a very very nice breakfast with something for everyone.

Stayed in the Squires room. You have to go up several narrow steps to get to the room but once there it’s lovely and clean, bed comfortable, just the right size. Breakfast was freshly cooked each morning, comes with cereal, fresh fruit and toast. Only downfall was some cereal or sauces were out of date. Made the owners aware as they may not have known. I’m sure all will be put right and I’d like to say we would stay again.

2/10 Poor

The owners are VERY UNFRIENDLY and have a shockingly UNCARING attitude to their guests. I was stranded in a flooded road only 3 minutes away from their hotel and the owners did nothing to help me, a female traveller on my own. The lack of care and lack of communication was utterly appalling. So upset I had the misfortune to book up this hotel.

Lovely Suffolk B&B!

We stayed in the Little Maid's Room for just one night. Very comfortable room, with low ceilings and sloping floor - typical of the period (16th century!). The stairs up to this room are very steep - not a problem for us but would be for many, so worth checking access. Low ceilings meant that it has a bath but no shower. Breakfast was "full English" - just what you need to set you up for the day. Great location to explore Suffolk!

Lovely relaxing countryside venue. Warm welcome, really comfortable night's sleep in a charming countryside spot. Excellent value for money, if a tad difficult to find! Will look to return.

Just right.

The "tack room" was very comfortable, clean and cosy. It's not "a room with a view" but still light and airy (there's so much to visit in the area that all I wanted to do was fall asleep anyway.) Breakfast was good and the hosts were friendly. I'm not sure that I needed more?
