Pleasant stay
Scenic location on the river. Close to walk to cathedral and the high street. Were upgraded to a spacious room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast.

For summer visits only
This place did not behave like a 4 star, mostly the staff were unhelpful. eg we asked for afternoon tea in reception and were sent to the dining area where we were told we had to give notice for tea as the chef was not in - and then carried on the conversation we had interrupted. Generally the place was cold and chilly, we know that it was an old heritage building so made some allowance. Having said that the visitor lounge for example was dimly lit with a poor effort of a fire in the grate. Generally the place was dimly lit and poorly heated.
Our room faced on to the road and the associated traffic noise was intrusive.
Our bathroom was cold
The pillows were rock hard lumps of bouncy stuff. We both woke with head and neck aches. Perhaps everything looks different in the summer. The car parking was good.

Full of character
Once again staff were lovely. Great hotel , everything you need. Close to the centre of Salisbury, 15 minute walk. Parking here £5 a night. Hotel is an older building full of character, near a river. Good breakfast and lovely and warm in all the common areas. Room was large, comfortable and everything we needed for a wonderful Christmas break.

Beautiful setting in beautiful city
Lovely hotel in very convenient and beautiful riverside setting. A few minutes walk through Cathedral Close (gates open until 11pm) to picturesque City Centre. Comfortable beds, plentiful good quality breakfast buffet with attentive staff. The only downside is the decor is very tired, including several broken boarded up windows in public spaces that await replacement

Pleasant overnight stay. Room was fine but curtains slightly torn. Water too hot and we couldn’t adjust. Meal in restaurant tasty.

Honest feedback about my stay.
The property could do with some TLC .... strong smell of damp around the corridors, mold and musty. Areas of bedroom need repaint, and attention paid to skirting boards and visible signs of dust around he top of liquid soap and toilet roll holder - i wiped around bot before iused them.
However, the beds were comfy, slept well, even though my bed was very squeaky every time i moved. Good selection at breakfast.

Nice location, hotel and staff
A nice hotel in a good area, I found the staff really helpful and friendly. The rooms are a bit dated but that’s ok, it was comfortable and clean, had a lovely view of the river. Great choice for breakfast. Had an evening meal which was also good. Happily stay again

Toilet roll rationing
The receptionist was very friendly and the room was good
The only issue is seeing a toilet roll around two thirds empty in the bathroom. There are all sorts of issues with that:
- It is unhygienic
- It comes across as mean and stingy
- It is offputting as it makes it feel like I have walked into someone else’ hotel room
- It means that we only have one toilet roll for our stay, which is not the norm in hotels.
I suspect that the current composition of the survey questions may be part of the problem - I see there is a rating for eco credentials. To an eco zealot, the idea of sharing someone else’s toilet tool might be appealing or desirable, so if you are giving this demographic major sway in the scoring process it will inevitably lead to situations such as this.

Beautiful view of the River Avon & Salisbury Cathedral. Amanda at the front desk is AMAZING! The restraunt staff are wonderful and offer choices for people with allergies, ie/ gluten. The mattress could use replacement but was still decent (squeaky when you turn at night). Damp smell in the room. Hotel is historical & charming. I would stay here again and am very picky but enjoyed it even though I would prefer a better mattress and better room scent.

Great location for the city centre. Beautiful room but noisy from hotel machines. Slow to get seated for breakfast and a lot of waiting for food to be replenished.
