The Great Northern is a shopping and leisure centre with enough entertainment to keep you occupied all day that's settled in a former railway goods distribution warehouse. Inside, you'll find shopping, food, drinks and entertainment that can keep you engaged all day long and into the night.

The whole family can find fun at this shopping centre, though some attractions like the casino are catered towards adults. Most people spend about 2 or 3 hours here, but given the extent of things to do, it's not surprising when people make an entire day trip out of this shopping centre.

    The Great Northern highlights

The shopping opportunities at The Great Northern are quite impressive, with clothes, furniture and other contemporary and luxurious offerings available. Like at other popular shopping centres, you'll also find a cinema with 16 screens showcasing the latest releases.

In addition to the standard fare, you'll also find a bowling alley here with 8 lanes and an attached restaurant and cocktail bar. If you're looking for something a bit more interesting, you can stop by the urban axe throwing centre or the virtual reality gaming centre. The latter is especially memorable thanks to its family-friendly offerings you can't get at home.

Good to know when visiting The Great Northern

Getting to The Great Northern is easy thanks to the variety of transport options available. If you're driving yourself, you can take advantage of the on-site car park with 1,200 spaces. Just keep in mind that it's £5 to park for up to 24 hours, and they don't accept cash payments.

You can also take the train if you don't have a car of your own. Deansgate Station is just a 5-minute walk from the shopping centre under the railway bridge. Piccadilly and Victoria stations are fairly close as well being just 20 minutes away on foot.
