Nice place, but lacking a fridge in the room
We took our dog and I didn't know at the time of booking I had to pay an extra £10 per night !!, it was a lovely to be able to walk round the grounds with the dog. Disappointing was the lack of fridge, although you could go down and get some milk from reception. Our dogs soft cooked food was put in the kitchen fridge (which was very nice of them), but found one of the receptionist was rather rude on the Tuesday morning, who asked me to walk away from reception to deal with my dogs food !!, but if they had fridges in the room, I would have had to ask them to store it ?? No air-con in room, fortunately we had taken a fan, as windows didn't open very much either and it was the hottest week of the year !! If I went again I would book directly as our room was £75 a night for 3 nights and were charged £270 by Hotels.com

Very good 8.0
Lovely building in a great setting
There was a small issue with the cleanliness of the bathroom. Upon raising this with the hotel, we were immediately offered the choice of one of two suites - really excellent prompt service. It’s a lovely building in a fabulous setting with very friendly and helpful staff. There are some small gripes in that the water pressure in the shower was very low and the information folder in the room needed updated in terms of restaurant menus - food itself good. Overall good value for money.

Very good 8.0
Pretty, peaceful, and pleasant.
Pleasant surprise. Comfortable and friendly. I stayed in an annexe room which was spacious and comfortable. A bit of dust evident, but not dirty as some have said. Very warm, but the windows open so not a problem - and the wind was in the right direction so I didn't suffer unduly from the "rustic" aromas from the next door cattle farm. Certainly one to visit again - maybe for a quiet few days away from the rat race.

Had a great stay here and would definately book again. not sure why there are some poor reviews, maybe they saw something i didnt or they have just refurbished the hotel but i was impressed. breakfast was phenominal.
