Fair 4.0
This property is advertised as Expedia VIP hotel as a gold there should have been some sort of acknowledgement of this .. We did not receive any benefits and were asked about up sales of breakfast ect . There was construction going during the day Which was a bit noisy . The hotel is large and they didn’t have enough staff monitoring the hotels many floors as we had children playing football in the hallway in the evening and running up and down slamming doors and yelling .. There was always people sleeping in the lobby with their bags piled around them . I asked Expedia for help in getting a room change or refunded so we could switch hotels and Expedia tried for 2 days to resolve the issue with the property and They refused to refund the last night of which we checked out and stayed at a different property .. I have been an Expedia Gold for over 3 years staying on average of 30 nights a year in hotels booked on Expedia and close to 90 nights in Hotels booked through my employer as I’m a Flight Attendant .. This is the first time that I have written a review, complained and asked for a refund. In my opinion this hotel should not be listed on Expedia as a VIP hotel as the experience was definitely subpar and one of the worst sleeps I have ever had :( .

rude awakening
We checked in on one of the hottest days of the year. When we got to our room which had no windows we saw a sign that said air conditioning was not working. there was a desk top oscilating fan so we plugged it in but it did not oscilate and kept sticking. We went to get drinks from the quite expensive canned drinks machine to find the drinks machine was not refridgerated at all. We then went to sleep but were awakened before 9am by workmen who sounded like there were demolishing a nearby room. It was impossible to sleep with this noise going on so we packed our bags and left. I went to the reception to complain and the receptionist said there was lot of work going on but the workemen were not supposed to be working at weekends. I asked for a manager to contact me re the situation and I was told that a manager would contact me by email to look into it. I have not received an email to date which seems poor customer service and it has turned what should have been a relaxing stay into a rude awakening where we couldnt even stay until the offical check out time that we had paid for

Terrible hotel - steer well clear!
Unbelievable problems with this hotel. I made a booking on behalf of my colleague under his surname and paid in full on my corporate card, however, before he could check in that evening, some other random person checked in, and reception staff allocated my colleagues' booking to them instead. So, when my colleague eventually arrived at the hotel later that evening, they made no mention of the fact they couldn't find his booking, but just created a new one and charged his credit card aswell. So, essentially we got charged twice, once on my card and once of my colleague's card. When I complained to the hotel and requested a refund to my colleague's card, they said no because it wasn't their fault and that the first person who had checked in said they had the same surname as my colleague! I find that incredibly hard to believe. More likely the reception staff messed up and tried to blame it on us. Also I had to chase the hotel repeatedly over 3 days in order to get a response out of them and finally speak to a manager. Luckily, Hotels.com were fantastic, stepped in and offered us a refund for the mix up, even though it wasn't their fault. This is an absolute rip off, cowboy hotel who still owe us a refund!

Exceptional 10.0
I stayed 3 nights over Christmas and was extremely pleased. Location, Location, Location! The value and the location made my stay worth it. It's within walking distance to the underground that will take you anywhere. It's also within walking distance to major streets and monuments such as, to Convent Gardens (3-5minutes) , The London Eye (5-10minutes), Big Ben (20 minutes) , Tower Bridge (40 minutes), Oxford Street (25 minutes), Buckingham Palace (40 minutes)...you can always take the tube too. Plus, the hotel staff really goes above and beyond. They are courteous, friendly, and helpful. Their smiles go a long way. I originally checked into a room that didn't have a view of the street and I kindly asked to be changed. The front desk was more than accommodating. I didn't have any issues with noise from the construction as previously stated in other reviews. The doorman takes pride in his position, assisting everyone as they come in or leave, with bags and such. I utilized the restaurant on my first night and the food could have been a little better but it was pleasant enough. The staff was friendly. Throughout the remainder of my stay, I utilized the 24 hour room service very late into morning hours and it was efficient but not very good. The room, was the superior single refurbished. It was small yes, but It really served as a means to sleep. The location makes it worth it. It was very clean and the bathroom shower is very spacious. I highly recommend this property!

This is not a 4 star hotel, but should be 3 stars.
location is perfect, close to everything. I was here for 8 nights, and stayed in other 4 star hotels in London, this one is a disappointment. I was checked in to a tiny tiny attic room, which was detailed as 'cosy' but should have been called 'pokey and tiny'. To upgrade, I was charged £25per day. For this you get a bigger room, but still no aircon. So when it is hot, you have to open the windows, letting in the city pollution and noise. Finding your room is a task, as there is no rationale behind the room numbers. The layout is a maze, with room numbers everywhere and the signage of rooms numbers really unclear. There is a map (yes a map) on each floor, which I advise guests to study. The staff were quite rude on occasion. I am not sure if this was just because they were busy or if this is the service offered. A 4 star hotel should never snap at guests. I was snapped at 4 times. I was trying to borrow a bottle opener at the bar, which isn't possible. i was trying to return the hangars and suit cover from my laundry the hotel arranged for me. I handed it to the concierge thinking they would have a recycling policy, but was snapped at saying 'what do you expect me to do with this. It just goes in the bin'. I asked if they were recycled, a colleagued intervened and said they were. For the whole building 3 lifts. One was out of action the full 8 days, I suspect much longer. one of these was sometime out of action, they were constantly busy, overcrowded. Stay elsewhere.
