Stayed for one week and bed sheets were only changed the day before departure. Cleaning of the room was not done properly, no vacum cleaning done to the carpets.

The hotel tried thier best to accommodate our needs amid the covid 19 re opening. The restaurant is closed but the bar offered a limited menue, the pool is pre booked the day before. Breakfast was very good. The maid service has to be prebooked but reseption has most items needed.

Hotel was sole less. Especially in the restaurant. Hardly any warning decor and the head person was very rude to my wife when she ordered food and was rude to the assistant when she answered our request to be seated in chairs that were more comfortable for us as we are both older people with mobility issues. We would also take issue with the air conditioning which the hotel had preset for the time of year. The room was cold when we entered but we were unable to alter it. The only way to make the room warmer was by switching it off! Even then it automatically turned itself on the following morning making the room cold again before we got out of bed. On the plus side we enjoyed a well presented breakfast and the hotel was very well geared up for covid 19 prevention.

Don't order the breakfast!
Location ideal for trips to the Zoo and close to.plenty of good places to eat. Room was pleasant and clean. However it wasn't cleaned during our stay, meaning tea cups remained dirty and beds unmade. Staff were all polite and friendly. Biggest issue was breakfast. I appreciate the move to table service due to Covid, but a pre ordered hot plate and bag of poor quality croissants and sad fruit was far from value for money. For the price being paid, I would have expected proper table service and higher quality goods. All healthy options have been removed from the Menu. No yoghurt, muesli, cereal even available...or even brown toast! Rather than Covid safety measures, this stank of penny pinching and wasn't what we'd come to expect from a Holiday Inn.

Not recommended
We had two rooms, aircon didn’t work in either, tv didn’t work in one, sink was blocked in one, cleanliness was poor, for example when folding away sofa bed under where the bed was didn’t look like it had seen a vacuum cleaner in a long time. On the plus side the hotel acknowledged all this and provided our one night stay gratis.

Refurb Needed
The room and hotel was clean and the staff and service were both very decent. The rooms and the hotel overall however have seen better days and investment is needed. The location is convenient for Chester and transport links but we won't be in a hurry to stay there again as we didn't consider our stay value for money.

Dissappointing Stay
My partner and I payed £72.25 to stay for a night. We entered the room and there was a paper on the bed stating something along the lines that a deep clean does occur between stays due to Coronavirus. This was not the case as I will detail further on. We were opting for a quiet night in watching TV as we were shopping the following day. The TV wasn’t working properly which was frustrating. There were stains on the body of the bed and on the plug under the bedside table. The charger socket next to the bed wasn’t working. Only half a toilet roll had been left for us, which suggests it wasn’t changed from the guests before us (which is rather worrying considering there’s a pandemic) - we proceeded to the reception at around 10pm to ask for more toilet paper, and there was nobody in attendance at the front desk, so we attempted to phone the number on the desk to phone when it is unmanned and an automated answering machine informed us that the number wasn’t connected. We triple checked this number and tried it several times. With no luck, we had to proceed to the garage to buy our own toilet paper, which isn’t ideal when you pay £72.25 for a stay. Finally, we were woken up by a woman shouting “house keeping” and opening our door at 8:45am whilst check out is noted at 12pm.
