Easy parking, fabulous Museum next to the Castle (Castle was shut though) and an amazing afternoon in the Cathedral, with added treat of choir rehearsing for their Evensong. Recommend the Sugar Beat pub (A140) for food, Riverside ones disappointing.

Norwich is a city where ancient and modern exist happily cheek-by-jowl. Shopping is a dream with plenty of big names as well as no end of independent retailers. Don't miss the market where you can find everything from fruit & veg to hoover spares.

Norwich Castle Museum and the Theatre Royal are both excellent and worth a visit. The market is worth a browse and there are plenty of good shops. Best to use the Park & Ride sites or public transport to visit the centre.

Amazing cathedral so don't miss it. If you're interested in bell ringing, visit St Peter Mancroft.
"Second time stay at this lovely hotel which is adjacent to Norwich Cathedral.
Great breakfast, pricey evening meals mitigated by two restaurants less than 3 minutes walk away.
Lots of stairs to contend with, visitors should be warned."
"Just returned from a weekend stay with my boyfriend and it was just perfect from start to finish. Lots of free parking and huge outdoor areas to explore. We had such a warm welcome by Karen on Reception. Our room was fantastic, a super size bed with a lovely balcony, a huge bathroom with bath and walk in shower. It was very clean and spacious. The breakfast was good with all the options you’d expect from a cooked breakfast to continental. We used the spa facilities which were fab and not too crowded. All staff were extremely helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend staying here and we will definitely be returning. "
"Great second stay at Oaklands. Had a few wifi issues which caused some disruption for me as i was there for business, but apart from that the experience was everything i needed it to be. Looking forward to the third stay next month."
"I loved my stay, and it exceeded my expecations. The place is in a strange little back street which might look unpromising, but it's dead quiet and actually ideally placed just minutes from both the station and the cathedral. The place is very well kept, and simple but stylish. My appartment was like a Travelodge bed room and bathroom, but with a well-equipped kitchen and a living room thrown in too. The reception staff were all very pleasant and helpful and, overall, it was extremely good value for money. It would be my first choice on a return trip to the city."
"Great place good EV charging options(fast and overnight) though app was a pain to start. Nice hotel and lovely grounds with a good breakfast. Will happily use agai if in area "
