As good as ever
The Daffodil has never let us down. The food was first class, the room was the best we've ever had there, with windows on two sides overlooking the lake. The staff are efficient, friendly and helpful.

Great location and very good accomodation. Spa was quite small in relation to the size of the hotel but we only used a couple of times and spent the days out in the lovely lake district.

Stayed one night hotel and staff were great . A bit disappointed with pool not enough loungers or seats expected to lie and relax by pool but they were all taken ,

Lovely hotel and very relaxing break.
Lovely welcome as soon as we arrived. Room was very nice, lovely comfy big bed, fresh decor and really good shower. We used the spa which was nice. Lounge very comfortable. Dinner was good and service was excellent. Breakfast was good. Overall thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we’ll definitely return.

Lacked a wow factor - reasonable enough
It wasn’t as plush as expected. The superior suite did differ a quite a bit from the photo. I was expecting a bit of a wow factor and didn’t get that. After receiving room service a lady tutted on her way back from delivering the food. Other service was friendly enough. Location by the lake was lovely.

Daffodil hotel Grasmere
The hotel was really nice. Good location for walking but be aware that if you get a taxi to Helvellyn the taxi company booked by the hotel will try to charge you about £30. It’s only a few miles away. The room was a good size. Clean, modern and comfortable. The breakfast was a mix of buffet and food made to order. The waiting staff were quick and helpful. The spa although nice could have done with more loungers as there weren’t enough seats or loungers for everyone. It was also very busy until the evening. I had a half hour massage but this actually turned out to be at most a 20 minute massage which was a shame because it was expensive at £40 for 20 minutes. I raised this with reception and they left a small box of chocolates in the room which was a nice gesture but really I’d rather have money back.

‘Head Concierge’ (who appear to be absent of a razor) was incredibly overbearing - interrupting a nice peaceful breakfast with his attempt at old school in-your-face customer service. My personal preference is for service to be discreet and on-hand, but not invasive. Hotel is nice, rooms good, bed comfy - great selection of food if you’re a meat-eater. Poor selection if you’re not. Spa was underwhelming. Bars lack atmosphere. Location is great, hotel should make more of it. Parking is ok, spaces quite narrow but sufficient. I’d love to see a nice log fire (or five) and a decent view here - it would really make the hotel. Overall ‘average’ for me. Wouldn’t stay again.
