Beautiful setting, house with charm and character
A beautiful setting for a lovely country house, overlooking a lake, complete with geese and swans. Staff were excellent, very friendly and chatty. No evening meal option, which seemed unusual.

2/10 Poor

Avoid this hotel, especially in winter with a small child. We booked for two nights, but cancelling the second night because of the rooms conditions. On arrival the room was full of thick cobwebs with damp and mould everywhere. The shower was covered in thick black mould and the floor was dirty. The carpets were thread bare and stained. There was also BLOOD on the duvet! However, the biggest issue and reason we left, was how cold the room was. The heating went off at midnight, and and the temperature became so cold we were concerned for the safety of our baby. We ended up wrapped up in hats, scarfs and jumpers and having to move our daughter into our bed just to warm her back up. What made this situation more dangerous was there were no staff at the hotel overnight!! There was a number to call, which we did 4 times to no avail and no answer. Because of I our concern and the cold we didn’t sleep at all, and overall would’ve been warmer sleeping in the car. In telling this to the staff the following morning we were offered two options to get a refund on the second night (and not stay) or move to the room next door - but the heating was still going to go off at midnight. We felt we had no option but to leave the hotel. Which ruined our weekend and left us very upset. We had expected more to be done about the issues but the response was poor. I am not normally one to complain or write a negative review but this conditions were appalling for the price.

For quality and price it takes some beating
Beautiful building in well maintained grounds. Main building and some newer accommodation blocks. Great location for exploring the Cotswolds plenty of open space for children. Ample parking. Room I was in was quite small for a double but it did have a bath with shower above it. Tiny TV. I do think it's fantastic value. Top tip, the accommodation blocks have shrubberies and in some cases are a little below car park level at the back. If you don't want a close up view of a bush go for a first floor room.

Standard room with double beds The room was very clean and the staff was amazing. The environment was pleasant and peaceful. Though the room was small, it is good enough for a short stay. The breakfast was really nice.

The hotel was welcoming and staff were friendly and helpful. The room was warm, clean and comfortable. The grounds were lovely and you felt free to walk and enjoy the surroundings. We were disappointed at not having the availability of a meal from the restaurant. Breakfast was either full English or/and cererals, continental wasn't an option.
