Stayed 19th August. Couldnt find a better place to stay in central London for 1 night (£60) Decent sized twin room on 4th floor. Apart from the odd couple of hairs in the bathroom the room was very clean! Window frame needed some some maintenance / new timber. Staff nice friendly and helpful.

Although the room was very small, we adapted as we were only there to sleep. Bedding was clean. Room/stairs and landing was in need of a good paint and a proper dusting ie lampshades, behind the tv, Bathroom adequate for use, shower was leaking water from shower head, but my boyfriend being a plumber fixed it by putting a washer in. Staff were very helpful and pleasant.

Carpets were a mess. There was construction going on so we had to climb 3 flights of stairs. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean. In a great location but that carpet I just can’t get out of my mind. So many stains.

first impressions - awful. The lobby is tiny, the lift isn't working. The hotel is spread over five floors. Floors 2 &3 appear to be undergoing extensive renovation, so, if you're on floors 4&5 you have to walk through a building site to get to your room. Room itself was comfortable enough and the location is great for public transport, but if you don't like stairs, dust and hanging wires, maybe not for you!

The hotel was under refurbishment, the room was on level 4 , no lift was working and no help with luggage was offered. You had to walk through the work to get to your room and work continued during the day so difficult to relax in the afternoon. But outside the room wasn't good. The room was nice, clean, comfortable

The bedroom had been renovated in the last year I guess, so was perfectly fine - clean, nice bathroom/shower etc but the hotel experience more broadly was not great. The place is very tired to say the least, everything is tatty and frayed. There was building work going on and perhaps it will be different down the line, but it's not a pleasant experience right now.

The hotel is in a good location, the shower was good and it had a decent fan in it. The mattress was comfy though the bed frame was not great. The hotel itself is fairly run down and not very clean. Multiple things were falling apart in the room, bedding wasn't clean and the hotel as a whole needs a bit refurbished. The lift wasn't working and doesn't appear to have worked for months given other reviews about it. Also the TV in the room was tiny.

The Ascot Hyde Park is wonderfully convenient to Paddington Station. The staff were very accommodating when we added our daughter and grandson to our room and let our other daughter and family drop off bags for awhile. The fact that the lift doesn't work made getting to the higher stories challenging, especially with luggage, and there’s no a/c to deal with a heat wave. Lots of restaurants around, and Hyde Park is a short walk. Recommend if you're in shape and the weather is mild.

The location is very central, and staff is friendly and helpful. We had a fan in our room but during the heat wave, an A/C would have been better of course. The cleaning was not entirely sufficient, as there were dust on shelves etc. Our bed, linen and bathroom were properly cleaned though. Unfortunately the lift was broken when we were there, so elderly would need to check this before booking.

Stayed in a neighbouring building from the main part of the hotel. Up a steep/ high flight of stairs. Room and bathroom was small, room was clean and bed was comfortable. Location is great, the room was larger than expected and I slept fine (in spite of the summer heat). Is it in good condition and anything like the pictures on booking sites? No. Everything is worn down and held together with spackle and patches of paint, but everything worked and there was enough room for me and my clothes and the suitcase fit under the bed so it wouldn't take up precious space. Very happy I had the room to my self and didn't have to share. Service was fine, but all I did was say hi and goodbye to the staff. Compared to other "cheap" London hotels, or was bigger than expected and absolutely adequate.

78 steps on a narrow staircase to the 3d floor room ( lift hasn't worked for 6 months, and Expedia did not have that info when I booked, even though the owner said he had mentioned it. Shower room was clean, looked as though it had recently been refurbished. Beds were clean and comfortable with clean linen. Tea and coffee facility available. No air conditioning, a fan was available, but very noisy...windows could be opened, but could see into room next door. General cleanliness was poor, carpets extremely stained and dirty, missing areas of laminate flooring in hallway. The only redeeming factor was the location. Would not stay again.

Rooms are organised a set of floors the stairs to which are extremely cumbersome especially if one has luggage and lift is not working. The rooms though neat - decor leaves a lot to be desired and sparse in terms amenities and water power in shower requires one to spend more than normal time.
