The Ascot Hyde Park is wonderfully convenient to Paddington Station. The staff were very accommodating when we added our daughter and grandson to our room and let our other daughter and family drop off bags for awhile. The fact that the lift doesn't work made getting to the higher stories challenging, especially with luggage, and there’s no a/c to deal with a heat wave. Lots of restaurants around, and Hyde Park is a short walk. Recommend if you're in shape and the weather is mild.

The location is very central, and staff is friendly and helpful. We had a fan in our room but during the heat wave, an A/C would have been better of course. The cleaning was not entirely sufficient, as there were dust on shelves etc. Our bed, linen and bathroom were properly cleaned though. Unfortunately the lift was broken when we were there, so elderly would need to check this before booking.

Location is great, the room was larger than expected and I slept fine (in spite of the summer heat). Is it in good condition and anything like the pictures on booking sites? No. Everything is worn down and held together with spackle and patches of paint, but everything worked and there was enough room for me and my clothes and the suitcase fit under the bed so it wouldn't take up precious space. Very happy I had the room to my self and didn't have to share. Service was fine, but all I did was say hi and goodbye to the staff. Compared to other "cheap" London hotels, or was bigger than expected and absolutely adequate.

Stayed in a neighbouring building from the main part of the hotel. Up a steep/ high flight of stairs. Room and bathroom was small, room was clean and bed was comfortable. Rooms are organised a set of floors the stairs to which are extremely cumbersome especially if one has luggage and lift is not working. The rooms though neat - decor leaves a lot to be desired and sparse in terms amenities and water power in shower requires one to spend more than normal time.

I stayed here 3 years ago. Had a lovely room. So, I booked again. We didn't have beds, we had cots. The lift broke TWICE, including when we were trying to leave for the airport with oversized luggage (and my wife not able to handle stairs). We won't be back

The location is great. Right in the middle of London and within walking distance of a lot of fun touristy stuff. But the hotel itself id ugly and old. The microwave has RUST inside so you can’t even heat anything up. The walls are falling apart. The floors are creaking. It’s ugly and unhygienic. I’d stay there again only for the location but that’s nearly it.

The reception was extremely helpful and allowed very early entry to the room for a small fee and then allowed bag storage after we checked out for a small fee. It’s ideally located near main rail and bus connections and excellent food options nearby. Sure it’s budget accommodation but perfect for what we wanted. 24 hour reception staff are very helpful…
