Old and meh

Stayed there 2 nights. Girl behind the bar was lovely. Otherwise staff did not seem to want to be there. Managers seemed stressed and panicking about stuff. Cleaners wanted ad every time you passed them on the corridor if you were leaving and your room number, I don’t know why because our bed was not made or towels replaced. Hotel is well located but it’s not worth the money.

Very convenient for the train station

Our first room was very spacious and airy with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was spotless and roomy. The second room was much smaller and the bed wasn't as comfortable as the first one. It overlooked a noisy passage way where bottles were emptied and people trundled their suitcases. The hotel in general looked a little tired and in need of an uplift.
Nora, 1-night trip

Staff was very helpful and supremely welcoming!

Great location, great value for quality

2/10 Poor

While the exterior and staircase are appealing and are what initially drew me to booking a room here for our anniversary trip, there were incredibly loud sleeping conditions, peeling paint and questionable cleanliness of our room. Losing out on a pre-paid room and proximity to the bus and train stations are the only thing that kept us in the hotel for a second night so that we could leave first thing in the morning.

Clean, comfortable and convenient to travel, shopping and food. I'll definitely return.

A ROYAL Location

We selected this property due to its location to the train station. Close to everything we wanted to see and do. The breakfast was wonderful. We had one dinner at the hotel and it was excellent. I would have rated the entire property excellent except the lift wasn’t working and we climbed a lot of stairs with luggage. Other than that - I’d stay again

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! It is an older hotel- so as expected some things were quite well-worn. Note- VERY limited onsite parking. We parked in the secure lot they directed us to that was a 5-10 minute walk away.
Mattea, 1-night trip

Great location pity so noisy from street outside hotel
Anthony, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

It is a nice hotel but perhaps a bit dated. It is right next to the train station so very convient.
Marie, 1-night trip

This property was close to restaurants, bars with music, Leakeys Book Store and a market. We had a wonderful time. Parking lot is small. Beautiful old hotel!

Mixed bag

I recently stayed at this hotel and found the experience to be a bit of a mixed bag. On the positive side, the room was very clean and comfortable—exactly what you'd hope for when traveling. The bed was cozy, the space was well-kept, and overall, it provided a quiet and restful environment. However, the service left something to be desired. The team members working the front desk during afternoon check-in, as well as those at the bar and during breakfast, were not particularly warm or welcoming. Interactions felt rushed or indifferent, which was disappointing. That said, I do want to acknowledge the woman working in the morning—she was a bright spot in the experience. Friendly, helpful, and genuinely kind, she stood out from the rest of the staff and helped make the morning more pleasant. Overall, if you're looking for a clean and comfortable place to sleep, this hotel delivers. But if service and hospitality are high on your list, you might find the experience lacking—unless you're lucky enough to cross paths with the morning staff member who truly knows how to make guests feel welcome. Close to train station, attached, lots of great shopping and cafes/restaurants nearby.
Dana, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Overall it's an old hotel that has had some money invested in it but more to go!. Only real downside was the noise of the seagulls nesting on the train station roof!!
Jimmy, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Nice hotel but could do with updating and walls are thin between rooms
Keith, 4-night trip

Great place to stay. Loved the location and room was comfortable.
Celeste, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

Enjoyed our stay, everything very good. Great location for the shops.
3-night trip

6/10 Good

The hotel is just outdated - carpets could use a deep clean, shower grout needed some upkeep and some of the wall paper is coming off due to age. The staff is friendly and this hotel is centrally located.
Dana, 2-night trip

We always stay at the Royal Highland. It's a beautiful old hotel right in the middle of Inverness.
