Tired and needs better management
On arrival my room had no bedding. I was then moved to another room with no bedding as well. The third room I was given had bedding but the heating did not work. The duvet covers fit the bed correctly but the duvet inside is not the correct size leaving lots of loose material with no duvet inside, which doesnt help when the heating does not work. The room does not have a secondary method of securely locking the door from the inside. Other than this the staff were understanding and helpful.

Room had cobwebs and dead flies all over the sash windows that has obviously been there for some time. Disgusting. When complained room was changed immediately. Will never stay there again as a result that the management, cleaning management and staff think that it is acceptable to even offer the room in the standard.

2/10 Poor

We are not fans of complaining, but this hotel was a big disappointment. We arrived after a 5-hour journey only to be told that because they had been busy over the weekend prior, they would not be serving food, and that we’d need to go and get a takeaway… That’s not really acceptable for any hotel in this day and age, even if we had been given prior notice. Our room was generally dirty and unkempt - gangs of spiders on the inside of the windows and in the corners of the ceilings, dirty carpets and random stains on the walls and furniture. The room was also very noisy as there was no secondary glazing, and the main road outside was busy all night. The noise from the nearby airport also didn’t help. The chairs in the bar, which wasn’t manned, were old and dirty, and this pretty-much summed up the hotel in general. It is in dire need of a refresh, and a big improvement in what it provides for the price it charges. If we have to go to Donington again, we definitely won’t be staying in this hotel. We’re sorry, but it needs to be a lot, lot better!

TLC required
Enjoyed my stay Hotel has a certain character about it should we say, rooms comfortable and very spacious they are a little tired though really crying out for a good clean and decorate. The satins on the carpet around the toilet just are not right. The staff were brilliant and told us the intention is to redecorate and give the place some TLC. Do this and you would get 5 stars from me.

OK but ...
Booked a standard King with ensuite, but was given a converted meeting room. Double bed was old and lumpy, pillow flat and lumpy. No ensuite, no dressing table, no wardrobes or chest of drawers - 2 clothes rails with 3 hangers - 1 bedside table. No curtains and the blinds at the front were defective. Very little effort has been made to make the meeting room actually feel like a bedroom. Kitchen extractor fan very noisy. On the plus side, we had access to the courtyard for the dogs, the manager and maintenance man were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good.

Quaint but tired.
We tried to check in at 2pm, but no staff was available. We missed out opportunity to tour the Nottingham caves as a result. Room was quaint but tired. Sink space was tiny, water pressure was low.

Convenient location and lovely staff
The hotel is perfect for a stay if you are going to the Race Circuit. The staff are really pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was fab and at only £10 each a real bargain. There was a nice little bar with a good selection available. This is an old Manor House, with creaky floors and lots of original detail. We were there 3 nights and feel it offered everything we needed. It’s not the Ritz, but the price reflects that. Right in the centre of Castle Donington-plenty of private parking. Will stay again next year.

Desperately needs a refurb
Room looked like it was last refurbished in the 70s. Smelled of damp. Very old toilet flush would get stuck. No wifi reception. On a positive side I arrived very late and the night receptionist was friendly and helpful.

Not happy with my stay
The hotel didn't have the room ready for me which i had booked, so they put me in a room that was adequate but was slightly less in price. I had informed the manager that the prices were advertised differently and he agreed to "sort something out" before i left. Unfortunatley this was not the case. The room however was clean all be it very out dated, the radiator valve was broken also so i was unable to turn down the heating and lastly the wall paper was peeling off of the walls in both the room and the bathroom (something im guessing to do with the heat being close to that of the surface of the sun). So yeah, ok place to stay if your in a tight spot, however i will not be staying here again based on principle.
