Check in experience: I arrived precisely at check in time, to find that there was nobody there to check me in. After 15 minutes, I called the number provided and thought they'd said they were 5 minutes away - but ended up waiting outside the property for more than an hour. By comparison, people who had been on the same train as I had and chose to chance their luck checking in early had been successful in doing so.
Room: I was extremely disappointed that the room wasn't what had been shown in the photos. This felt like false advertising, as the style lacked any of the charm I'd expected. The only window faced onto the main road, meaning there was no opportunity to sit near a window with the curtains open and experience privacy.
Cleanliness: There were hairs from someone else's stay on the shower walls, and stains on the pillows.
I would not recommend this hotel. I felt unwelcome, uncomfortable, and missold. Hotels.com were fantastic in their support, whereas the owners didn't respond to them about a request for a partial refund to account for time lost at check-in.
