Caitlin, 2-night trip

10/10 Excellent

Staff were the best in service and attention to detail. Main building had some construction ongoing as of 7/2025, but stayed in villa separate from main building. Villa was traditional in all aspects including tatami floors and sliding doors. Breakfast and set dinner meals were excellent providing variety of Japanese flavors and multiple courses of meals. Villa has indoor and outdoor private onsen. Public onsen was excellent clean and location was only 45 taking local bus from Odawara station to Ryokan.
Patrick, 2-night trip

10/10 Excellent

Loved the private onsen. The dinner provided was outstanding
Jose, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

A showcase of Japanese hospitality. Beautiful hotel in a tranquil setting, exquisite cuisine, convenient shuttle bus, super helpful staff, we enjoyed every minute of our stay.
XIAOHANG, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

It was set in a beautiful, lush area with bus access to many outings in Hakone. The hotel is an older one, with some renovations underway, but our room was big with a private bath fed by the hot springs, a definite highlight. Every dinner and breakfast was unique and flavorful. All of the staff was engaging and respectful.
Mary, 2-night trip

10/10 Excellent

Absolutely INCREDIBLE Ryokan and onsen. The staff were so kind and helpful, the property is stunning. It was a perfect way to wind down from Tokyo. Definitely get the dinner option if available, the food was fantastic!
Rachel, 2-night trip

The onsen experience was absolutely amazing and the staff were all so lovely and hard working. The food was also delicious!
Forest, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

My dad and I are visiting from China, and this is my first time in Japan —lHakone. From the moment we arrived at Mikawaya, everything exceeded our expectations. We were delighted to experience such authentic Japanese cuisine. The service was thoughtful and attentive. We’re already looking forward to coming back — and when we do, Mikawaya will definitely be part of our trip again. 10/10 experience!!
Yue, 3-night trip

10/10 Excellent

Absolutely gorgeous property! So clean and comfortable and the hospitality was top notch. Best part was the view of the mountains from our room! If you are looking for a break in your Japan trip to relax and unwind, this would be the place.
Alexandra, 2-night trip

10/10 Excellent

Beautiful and traditional. We had the outside onsen room and it was so cozy
Mary-Lou, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

Onsens were too hot and having the sink attached to the toilet took some getting used to but its a nice hotel.
Eric, 1-night trip

8/10 Good

I loved the traditional stay. Lovely staff. I do think the accommodations were overpriced. The food was good but both mornings my hot breakfast was cold. Just make sure you don’t mind being far from other places.
Louise, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

The private onsen was very nice and food was superb.
Qianjun, 2-night trip

10/10 Excellent

I would give this 6 stars! The theme of the ryokan took us back to retro Japanese era. We enjoyed the indoor and outdoor baths to the fullest. We will definitely plan to come back

It was good. Just no touch pay like the USA unless you’re staying at its sister location then they do. Anyway good service, food and experience for a 5 star Ryokan.
