We had the first floor suite or mini apartment with fridge (freezer box above it) microwave, kettle, full size dishwasher and sink. They kindly left us a bottle of red wine and biscuits and two bottles of water. We went to Conad supermarket which wasn’t far by car, we are driving. Or Carrefour express within walking distance in town. Many restaurants locally. Being British we don’t like to eat late. We can recommend Centrale as they were always busy and cooked all day.

Everything worked well from the ease of checking in to the upgraded room overlooking the lake to the excellent, responsive staff. The visit was a delight from start to finish. Of particular note were the arrangements for breakfast and the extreme helpfulness and resourcefulness of the members of the concierge team. Can't speak highly enough of them.

On our last night in Italy, we decided to stay somewhere well located to get to the airport the next morning. We really weren't expecting our last night pit stop in Ferno to be such a fantastic stay. Everything was high quality; be that the bed and the linen or the recommendations given by our lovely hosts, Andrea and Antonella!

Apartment was huge but felt the space could have been configured a bit better e.g. with a kitchenette or more comfy living area. View was amazing (just be aware that the picture shown is when the trees were very young/ had no leaves and they now cover the lake view). Breakfast was nice. Cleaning was good but would have liked the bed linen to be changed - we stayed for 5 nights and it was not changed.

Our second visit. We brought the family with us. Two young granddaughters loved the indoor & outdoor swimming pools. Breakfast excellent! Hopefully we will return again.

We loved staying in this hotel with its unique history and beautiful decor. It is a special place in a wonderful location and we had fabulous views from our balcony. The walk to Morcote took under 30 minutes with lovely views but you need to wear trainers as the path is uneven. We also enjoyed walking to the castle through the vineyards and exploring lake Lugano by bus and boat. We tended to get Uber taxi’s back up to to hotel as it was a steep climb ( cost 18CHF)

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Stresa
Book for the cheapest times: The most budget-friendly period to visit Stresa is during February, November, and December, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For a thorough exploration of the town's remarkable landmarks and cultural sites, a stay of at least 3 to 4 days is recommended. During your visit, you can enjoy the beautiful gardens, the stunning lake, and partake in boating excursions to the picturesque islands. Additionally, the historical castle offers a glimpse into the past, while opportunities for swimming, sightseeing, and ferry rides enhance your experience. Natural parks in the area also provide a great value for money as you immerse yourself in the beauty of Stresa.
Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To secure great savings on hotels in Stresa, explore the Dealsopens in new window and Last-Minute Dealsopens in new window sections on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted rates as your travel date approaches. Consider enabling email alerts or push notifications for updates on flash sales and special last-minute promotions, ensuring you stay informed about potential savings. Additionally, the Smart Shoppingopens in new window tool available via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, helping you make informed decisions. By staying proactive, you're more likely to see the best deals and act quickly when prices drop or availability changes.
Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate due to various factors, including the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could help you find a better deal for your stay in a Stresa hotel. If you’re seeking a unique experience, boutique hotels may provide a more personalised touch and sometimes represent better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. Should the price be on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could offer more affordable options.
Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre generally tend to be pricier; however, thanks to Stresa's superb public transport connections, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel further afield that remains well-connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money available. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic experience while being kinder to your budget.
