Don't bother with the breakfast
Booked with breakfast for two for an additional £50 a night. On going down for breakfast the first morning, we were informed that it was a choice of - I kid you not - cereal OR yoghurt OR fruit OR a fry up. The long menu offered to other guests wasn't available. A complaint was made which frankly was ignored - the simple idea of "choose up to £25 each from the menu" was too much for the hotel manager to comprehend - Hotels.com refunded our breakfast fee as the agent agreed it was unreasonable to massively restrict AND overcharge in that way. Two lifts in the lobby, but one is supposedly reserved for staff only - but no sign to say so, just abruptly told us off for attempting to us it. 5* Guests? No way. To add insult to injury, the hotel's address doesn't resolve on private hire companies GPS meaning every cab we booked pulled up outside the hotel next door - the doorman snootily referred to our cab booking as a "Uber" with a sneer when it was not Uber, and there's no easy way to cross the road to Hyde Park - despite the hotel advertising itself as being right opposite - the 4 lane road with concrete wall central reservation and underpass makes that impossible. For a luxury stay we simply couldn't wait to leave. And then on the train home, I discovered they'd attempted to charge my card on checking in for the full stay - a stay that had been prepaid before we left home.

The Best and luxury Hotel in London
I am writing to express my appreciation for the quality of service you offered me and my wife during our stay at the Wellesley Knightsbridge Hotel in London. It was our 1st time here! We had a wonderful one week vacation. Despite of the many offers we received from other hotels, we decided for your hotel because of the unbeatable deal you offered us. It was a very good decision; We enjoyed the peace and quiet we needed with luxury, very high quality offered in all the facilities of your gorgeous hotel. This definitely added to the excellent service of the staff in every segment of your hotel. Every staff member with whom we came in contact was attentive, kind and professional including receptionists, room service staff. I just wanted to let you know how much we valued that effort, how impressive and gracious and how greatly we appreciate everything that you personally and your staff did for us. Moreover we like the experience for drop off with Rose Rise. We will definitely recommend your hotel to our friends, colleagues and family, and I’m sure we’ll be back. We have already decided to return to your hotel for our next vacation. Thank you very much again for such outstanding service and see you soon.

Although the hotel is pretty, the service and room functionality are not worthy of a 5 star hotel. Despite paying the typical price of a top class hotel, expect a Marriott which is what this hotel is. The doorman did not meet us to help with our bags when checking in. Our suite (401) faced an extremely busy road and had french doors that wouldn’t stay closed, so our room was very loud. There was no cold water from the taps in the bathroom, it went from hot to Luke warm. Room service forgot items. House keeping didn’t bring back express laundry on time and didn’t provide turn down service one night despite the service room light being on. The suite, their top level room, was literally 2 feet from the elevator. Our suite was booked through Expedia and was stated to have either 2 twin beds or 1 king. This was not the case and when I requested twin beds several days prior to check in, I was told this was not possible. Michela, the person that I dealt with through multiple emails, was not helpful nor terribly apologetic. I was also not allowed to cancel the reservation. Even though the hotel was aware that the suite was to house 2 people that preferred twin beds, it was not set up with separate bedding or a roll away upon check in. I had to request it myself from the check in staff. The Wellesley clearly doesn’t deserve it’s 5 star rating.

Highly recommend!
Excellent! Great location close to Buckingham Palace, parks and good shopping. Beautiful room with luxurious finishes. Wonderful staff and service who accommodated a special request and were over the top friendly! My only very tiny negative observation (but please don’t let this stop you from staying in this superb hotel) is that we were turned away from breakfast one morning as my husband was wearing shorts. I totally understand that this is a high end hotel with high end dining, however turning away shorts (golf shorts mind you, not athletic shorts) seems a bit antiquated particularly when others were seen wearing sweat pants/pajama pants. However the breakfasts were delicious and service top notch so again, do not let this deter you. Overall we were thrilled with our stay in this hotel and would recommend to anyone looking for a little luxury and exemplary service! Thank you for helping to make our holiday so enjoyable!

Above and beyond.
I didn't advise the Hotel Team it was our 22nd Anniversary. I didn't mention it to the Restaurant Team when I booked dinner in the Jazz Bar Restaurant. When we arrived for our stay our whole party and 3 rooms all received an upgrade to celebrate our Anniversary. My Wife and I had a card from the Manager wishing us well for our Anniversary. What a great Team what an amazing weekend experience. Thank you The Wellesley. Our second time of staying and we will stay again.
