Very enjoyable stay. We received a free upgrade to a superior room which was a nice surprise, all the staff we encountered were professional, friendly and attentive. The room was well appointed and very comfortable. Hotel in a very pleasant countryside setting. Nothing to find fault with, would definitely stay there again.

Wivenhoe house is beautiful, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The bedroom was very comfortable and spotlessly clean, it’s nice to have a coffee machine instead of the usual cheap instant sachets. Bathroom was a good size, extremely clean with a powerful shower. Food both in the evening and breakfast was well presented and delicious. All the staff were very friendly and professional. We will stay again.

Beautiful hotel, very peaceful and the rooms are done out to a high standard. They do not look tired or well worn it really is a lovely hotel. The staff were really polite and attentive. I really can’t fault the fit and finishing of the whole building and rooms. There was no noise from adjacent rooms which you sometimes get with other hotels. The grounds surrounding the hotel are beautifully kept and there is no road or traffic noise. Really is a great stay and location. Comfy beds slept really really well, and nice to have a fridge and safe as standard.

Lovely hotel. Our room the Brettingham was lovely. The weather was lovely so we were ablebto enjoy some drinks out on the garden terrace. The staff were all really friendly right feom check in to check out! We had breakfast in our room. We had a full english and it was huge and really great quality food! A beautiful property with a lovely historical charm- though a bit on the expensive side. The reception team was incredibly friendly and accommodating. I stayed in the Hilton room for a night before my graduation at the University of Essex, and it made the occasion feel even more special.
