Underwhelmed
We stayed at The Doubletree Hilton for one night for my husbands birthday, as we were visiting places nearby. It is a nice modern, well maintained hotel. We booked a superior room although I struggled to see what made it superior as it was small, had no bath and no additional facilities to a normal double room? The bed was a nice size and had good bedding. Breakfast was a let down, I appreciate COVID has brought various restrictions but not sure why that would restrict what you can have or the quality of the food. We were allowed to order 7 items which was basically enough for a cooked breakfast ( a rasher if bacon, 1 sausage, 1 hash brown, an egg, some beans, mushrooms and toast. That didn’t stretch to cereal or fruit, we had to ask for fruit juice, were given UHT milk for our filter coffee and 1 portion of butter! The food was also cold. Please note you still pay the same for this restricted breakfast! I suppose to sum it up it was clean and comfortable but over priced and lacking, not sure why it gets such a good rating as we probably won’t return. I have stayed in nicer B&Bs for half the price. Parking nearby but very expensive.

Disappointed stay
At first I was told there is no dinner till Tuesday also been told that breakfast is served till 10am (I was checking in on Sunday just before 3pm). Next day I’m going downstairs at 9.30am and been told that breakfast is over ( I was allowed to get few bits which were left) I asked for my room to be cleaned and asked for someone to be send to my room as my air conditioner doesn’t work and it’s really cold. No one came to clean nor to look in to the freezing room so had to ask for additional blanket. I called downstairs to ask for room service and I’ve been told they don’t do it. Next day I’ve asked for my room to be cleaned again I also told what time I’ll be back so it’s done before I’m back i asked for the heating to be dealt with again. No heating was fixed no dinner was served. I’m back 30mins later then I told I’ll be back and my room just been started cleaning. I stayed in that property before and it was much better I do believe before you book you should be informed that there is no dinner (restaurant is closed) that there is no room service that things are in that way not another so you can make your own mind about the property before you book and pay so much money. I do not expect things to be the way there were before but I do believe we should be informed about the changes

Personally my worst experince in service.
I was really disappointed with the service I received and this was accepting that reduced guests would require less staff, however I had to wait at the reception desk for someone and knocked a few private staff doors to try and find someone. What I was particularly disappointed with was waiting an hour for the starter and then a further 30 mins for the main. My daughter and I prayed everytime the bell rang to collect the food in the resturant. The drinks took almost 45 mins and I had to ask for everything or when is it coming. I wouldnt mind but almost all the customers commented to me about how long our meal took as theirs came far quicker than ours and I had a 7 year old with me. One table were given free drinks for the wait and they had half the waiting time than me. I wouldnt mind but the waiter was angry at me when I asked for my starter saying the kitchen is busy.... I said it was tomato and pesto starter!!! I wanted to support the resturant and try and help boost our economy back into action but this wasnt a good day. My daughter behaved impeccably throughout.
