Staff very welcoming and helpful to elderly.
Very comfortable accessible room and building. The fantastic old building was beautifully adapted to a comfortable and secure hotel. The council room makes a very cosy and interesting restaurant.

Exceptional 10.0
The hotel is very well located and has character of its own. It is the old shire hall and has retained much of the original features. The only criticism is the restaurant menu was in our opinion limited.

Top marks
This hotel lives in an interesting Victorian former Registry of Durham University. Interesting stained glass. Dining room is in the former council chamber. Excellent choice at breakfast. Fresh prepared hot dishes for breakfast. Customer care was of a very standard.
