When to visit SeoulThe average January temperatures in Seoul are a cold 34ºF. Contrastingly, the average July temperatures are hot at around 84ºF. In May the city holds the Hi Seoul Festival and the following month is the Seoul Tano Festival, both of which are good times to travel to Seoul.
How to get to SeoulIncheon International Airport (ICN) lies about 40 miles to the west of Seoul on an island; despite the distance there are slick transport links to get you into the city and the center of things although it is perfectly possible to make your base in a hotel near Seoul instead. The city is also a rail hub and downtown transport is provided by taxis, buses, and a subway system.
Seoul attractionsAs well as being a modern city of skyscrapers and business districts, Seoul still has a lot of preserved ancient architecture and monuments. Changdeokgung Palace is a world heritage site with a secret garden. Nandaemun Gate, or the “Great South Gate,” was one of the major attractions in Seoul but was a victim of arson in 2008. Another existing gate is Dongdaemun and there are a number of Dongdaemun hotels nearby where you can base yourself. More modern architecture includes the Seoul Tower on Mount Namsan. For a bit of culture try the Nanta Theater and finish off your day with a fine meal in a hotel restaurant.
