Love this B&B
Lovely B&B. Had a fire and alot of seating in main area. Food is AMAZING for dinner and breakfast. Comfortable beds, clean bathroom. I have stayed here before and will again!

Cute wee room
Stayed for one night as it was close to Ben Hope. The room was old fashioned, but in a good way . Loved the tartan accessories and the big deep bath was an unexpected nice surprise . I would stay there again if I was going back to that part of the country

This was such an amazing find. The view is spectacular. It was homey but professional. The morning breakfast was diverse in options which was nice. Hope we can go back again soon.

Wonderfully isolated and atmospheric. It was perfectly situated for me to
stay 3 nights and drive around exploring Sutherland. Nice staff and guests. More of a rustic lodge feel than dressy hotel. Restrained and authentic

Remote Highland Hotel worth visiting
Splendid highland situation in a remote scenic area with good parking. Well appointed furniture and fittings and country views, although I could not see the lake from inside the hotel. Room warm on arrival but tv being upgraded so not available. Very good internet signal, Only a couple of guests as out of season so had personal service

Great stay at this lovely hotel. All the staff very helpful and eager to please.
However on departure there was no record of our payment through Expedia.. we showed proof of payment to the hotel which they agreed to accept, and fight Expedia for reimbursement

Room was damp, slugs on the floor in the morning, bed was comfy and clean but not great to walk in to someone else’s dirty cups by the bed and used shower gel caps in the shower

Room was small but reasonable. Had a country, homey feel. Food was quite good. Relaxed atmosphere. Hostess was lively, positive and helpful. We weren't there to fish, so perhaps missed out on its main attraction.
Staff shortages impacted was services could be offered.
For what it was, seemed quite expensive.
Internet was a bit patchy.

Great location that is very quiet and scenic. Very friendly staff with great service and food. Overall condition of hotel whilst clean and comfortable was a bit tired and in need of renovation.

The Altnaharra Hotel is a backstep in the past.
The staff was really nice.
The room, the hall, everything is well manteined and frozen in the '80ies.

The hotel grounds appeared untidy and neglected.
The bar was limited (and expensive)since my last visit.
I had difficulty understanding the managers strong eastern European accent, he was helpful and courteous though.
The bed was very soft and because the bedding/pillows and mattress were foam I was overheating and sweaty so did not sleep, which was disappointing as I had booked to avoid a 3 hour journey from home in the morning.
I was not aware breakfast wasn't included when I booked through Expedia, that made it not such a good deal after all.
Overall I would say that over the years I have stayed here this hotel appears to be decaying, internally and externally.

This is a remote spot with not many accommodation options and yet this is a very nice place to stay. Welcoming, good food and lots of very pleasant lounge space. Well equipped for cyclists too. Recommended.
