8/10 Very good

Great family stay.. would stay again.
Overall great stay. Room was nice and clean. Shower was good. Beds were comfortable. Noise was not a problem from downstairs. Segregated nicely. The bar areas were nice. Staff were friendly. The steak burger meal we had was tasty and filling and the meat was what i like to call proper. Breakfast in the morning was decent. Cooked options with all the traditional items and even added an extra egg for myself. The eggs benadict was also impressive and tasty. The confectionary options were nice too and you had everything you could expect such as cereals, pastries, yogurts and plenty of flavours for the toast to choose from. With drinks such as tea, coffee. Apple juice and orange juice. All situated in a nice cosy room away from the bar area. The children enjoyed having a go on the piano too which was lovely. Only downside was the room was cold and didnt heat up much but this was mentioned to them with regards to a possible seal fault with the skylight that may have been letting in a little air. But as the weather was on amber alert it probably didnt help.

NIGHT AWAY ON BUSINESS
Food was brill inc the breakfast. Room was on top floor of the pub. Room was clean & tidy. About right for the £. Have to support these pubs as they need tyhe business rather than the National big players that are so impersonal. The staff were attentive as well.

Room very clean and tidy. Little warm in room, sash window kept closing under its own weight. This meant room got hotter. Managed to wedge it open :-) We eat in bar and food was plenty and good quality. I was a little disappointed finding out room payment was already taken upon booking despite card used as guarantee only with 'payment on arrival' selected, also an additional charge for dog taken that was unaware of. However charges were reasonable. Overall impression was good and with it being dog friendly and esse of parking - we would come back..(if we're allowed) :-)

4/10 Fair

Full English breakfast was good, however, portion got smaller by the day. Rooms were clean but basic. Bar staff were in need of customer service courses, found it very difficult to get them to chat or smile. The locals were very friendly and made us welcome. Will visit again but will stay elsewhere

The food is lovely and the personal great. Servicing of the bedrooms is ‘if you want it, not the norm’. It would be advantageous to change this. Slept well in the comfy bed and liked being close to all village amenities and lovely walks nearby.

Home from Home
Booked The Cromwell Arms for a 3 night stay with my husband. I came down to Devon to visit my Dad who lives quite near so this place was ideal for us. On arrival this is a very quaint looking establishment and quite a few places at the rear for Free parking too. We booked in and shown to our room. We were both pleasantly surprised. The double room was really beautiful, with en suite, shower and plenty of towels and complimentary s/poo, s/gel soap and body cream which i thought was so nice. We had a good size tv on the wall and plenty of choice of channels plus (Netflix, prime ect). We had a wardrobe in the room, a dressing table and chair plus a comfy big chair too. Tea, coffee making facilities and a super comfy clean bed to which we both slept very well. In the morning you are provided with a choice of cooked breakfast to which i must say was excellent produce and home cooked. We also had a few meals here too and have to say the Sunday Lunch was delicious and both of us had Roast Beef with all the trimmings, we even managed a pudding each. Melt in the middle Chocolate cake with ice cream, Barry had Mixed Fruit Crumble with Custard. Must say after drinks and coffee we were totally full. I have to mention the owners Tom and Debbie as they made us feel very welcome. It was like staying with family, staff are so polite and welcoming too. The Cromwell Arms has 14 rooms. We stayed in room 4 (front). Thanks again Tom, Debbie & Staff see you very soon. Mandy&Barry ♥️xxxx

Overnight stay at this lovely pub. Finished food when we arrived but still good enough to get us a meal. Really friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable, spotlessly clean room. Would definitely stay again.
