Family room stay

Family room needed upgrade, leaking toilet and rain coming through light. Staff friendly and helpful, especially Nicola who loaned me her mug for the time there. Breakfast was good, did see difference in quality of chefs but overall still nice. Quiet hotel, hardly any use of bar or restaurant in evenings. Shut about 10pm and reception not manned 24hrs. Across road from train station and Lidl which was useful.

8/10 Very good

We were here for a quick trip and stayed for one night only. Everything was pleasant for the time we were there! They don’t have lifts though so something to keep in mind if you have accessibility requirements.

Lovely breakfast. Bar closed early.

Comfortable Stay

Comfortable overnight stay. Good parking available and the hotel is situated conveniently just on the edge of the town centre. There was a nice selection at breakfast of cereals, yoghurts, jams etc. Nice addition of an iron/ironing board in the room rather than have to go and ask for one.

Romm was very basic, run down and not really worth the £100 we paid, could do with a real refresh to bring it up to standard. Bed was comfy though

10/10 Exceptional

Great situation for the shops just a 5/10 minute walk away. Parking at the hotel is good. Rooms spacious and comfortable and clean the only thing that is a let down is the bathroom it’s a bit outdated found the shower slippy and no where to put your shower gel and shampoo. Breakfast is very good with plenty of choice and full cooked breakfast is very good and hot. Didn’t have dinner was not keen on the menu but it might be good for others but not me. Staff are very nice and friendly. Very welcoming.
Catherine, 3-night trip

8/10 Very good

Wasn't terribly quiet as on a busy street near a bar. Decent quality food and portion sizes. Good choice for cereals and cooked breakfast. Toilet tank was broken, towel racks and toilet roll holder broken as well. Toilet didn't flush properly. Room was otherwise in good condition and nicely maintained.
Megan, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

First time staying here and we weren’t disappointed. Room was spacious and airy , bed very comfortable. Welcome pack was good. Shower was great and bathroom was immaculate. My only suggestion was to add a handrail inside the shower and maybe a small corner shelf for shampoo, conditioner , shower gel it’s much better for someone disabled. Breakfast is a 10/10 cooked well and tasted amazing full cooked breakfast. It’s actually situated perfectly to travel and see other places from. Parking was free and good. It’s very handy for the train station and the retail park for shopping. We are definitely going back again and we can bring our dog which is an extra bonus for us. I don’t drink but my husband does and felt that the bar would be better with tap beers.

Not good

Firstly, disappointed with Hotels.com, convinced initial booking over the web was correct then having to change it. The hotel itself was disappointing. Basically a tradesman’s stop. Very average. Dinner cutlery not clean, I scraped crud off my fork. Staff were friendly but all on short term work and seemingly understaffed. Very overpriced stay for what the hotel justified.

2/10 Poor

well first off never have i paid 125 quid a night for a hotel i wrongly assumed that was 75 quid each so expedia will not be getting used again but Hotel got message 2 days before you have been moved to the mansion house and upgraded wish i had bought a tent Terrible place No evening meals at a hotel which was one of the best in Elgin bar unbelievable Army staff playing snooker consuming their own drinks from boxes full of alcohol beautiful old building which i have stayed in before upon check in as we were moved from royal they didnt know how to process booking fee at this point if i had known it was 125 quid each i would have driven to Inverness never again Expedia

If you just want a bed….

Clean and functional but lacking warmth especially In bar and restaurant. Very limited hours for bar opening so barely used by anyone. Did not see anyone dine in the hotel in evening Breakfast basic but passable. Rarely saw any staff
Michael, 1-night trip

Nice large room and excellent employee service, especially Ellis
Nancy, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Rubbish don’t stay here

Very basic and in need of a hotel inspection. Beds hard and need to be dumped. Toilet seat and shower fell apart. Carpet needs replacing. Very disappointing.
Ron, 1-night trip

4/10 Fair

Sonja, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

It is perfect
Sören, 3-night trip

8/10 Very good

We enjoyed our stay. The only real downside is the lack of elevator; walking up 2 flights of stairs will luggage is a bit of a slog.
