From the point of booking, the owner of Vegga suites made contact with us and was very attentive. Even walked to greet us on arrival at 5am, made reservations at a restaurant he recommended and was in his words “at our disposal” during our stay in Crete even after we left Heraklion to move to our beach holiday.

We stayed here for one night before an early morning flight, and it was perfect! The location is fantastic—just a 10-minute walk to the old town and restaurants, and a quick 15-minute taxi ride to the airport. It’s a lovely, beautifully decorated small boutique hotel (self-check-in, no front desk staff). Just keep in mind it’s set over two floors with no elevator if you're carrying heavy bags. Our room was gorgeous and packed with thoughtful extras like coffee, tea, and bottled water. The bed...

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Heraklion
Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Heraklion is during January, February, and December, when hotel prices are generally lower. For a budget-friendly holiday, a stay of at least 4 to 5 days is recommended to fully immerse yourself in the city's key historical and cultural landmarks. You can explore fascinating museums, the picturesque port, various monuments, and delightful cafés. Additionally, you'll find great value for money in shopping, dining experiences, and sightseeing tours. Visiting during these months may provide even more savings, as prices may drop further, making your trip to this historical gem even more enticing.
Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To discover last-minute deals to Heraklion, visit the Dealsopens in new window or Last-Minute Dealsopens in new window sections on Hotels.com, where you may find discounted hotel rates as your travel date approaches. Consider enabling email alerts or push notifications to stay updated on flash sales and special last-minute promotions, helping you save on your trip. Additionally, the Smart Shoppingopens in new window feature in the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you're more likely to see the best options available. This way, you'll be promptly informed of any price drops or room availability for your ideal stay.
Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate based on various factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates may help you find a better deal for your stay in a Heraklion hotel. For those in search of something distinctive, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised experience and potentially better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price appears to be on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could be more affordable, aiding you in your search for a good deal.
Consider your location: Hotels located near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive; however, with Heraklion's fantastic public transport connections, you might discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that remains well connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
