8/10 Very good

Initial communication prior to arrival was digital. Staff were very hospitable and accommodated me needing to store a bag before check-in. Very friendly and polite staff and the hostel seemed popular as a resting place for people who were out late at night on the weekend.

100% recommended

Great stay. It was in a perfect position to the Utilita Arena. In fact, we visited Birmingham to see Tate McRae. Room was clean, pillows were a little too thin but bed was comfortable. No complaints, it was a great stay for the price.
Michela, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Good location, a few minutes away from the main street. Cool and helpful staff.
Emmanuel, 2-night trip

4/10 Fair

Grim, dirty room amd poor service. Avoid.

From check-in, the customer service was poor. The room was dirty, stains on the walls and ceiling. No openable window for fresh air, and a broken fan provided. Bedside lamp broken, no towels provided as standard. Don’t be fooled by the photos, this is one of the worst rooms you can stay in.

Due to a problem at passport control in Birmingham Sunday Airport I missed my connections to return to Bournemouth without having to pay extra so I decided to pay £20 to stay the night in Livery Street. Same hostel more upgrades and another name.

My first stay in a hostel

Better than I expected
Tony, 19-night trip

4/10 Fair

Facilities were as expected but there was a mix up on assigned beds on both nights of my stay which was inconvenient and a fundamental part of a booking. Staff were polite and eventually resolved the situation.

You get what you pay for

You get what you pay for. Needed a bed to get my head down with my son as we were visiting for a University open day. The cleanliness and quality of the hotel itself was ok for the price. However, the comfort was not, paper thin walls and other guests playing music until 0300am followed by noisy trains directly opposite in the morning meant an awful nights sleep. Plus room was too hot and the heating system was not working properly and no windows opened.

For for purpose

Ideal for what was needed. Watched a gig and just needed a few hours to kip before getting a train home.
Jamie, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

I stayed in a double and loved the bed, it was so comfy and very clean! Staff were very nice. Wifi didn't work on my phone and the shared bathroom was very cold but other than that it was very affordable and had a good time!

Yi Ching Vengi, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

Although it was a day trip, I had a good time lodging at PH Hostel. Maybe because of my height, the beds were small for me lol. Overall, it was good.
Okechukwu Adrian, 1-night trip

Very enjoyable

We totally enjoyed the time we stayed in the PHhostel with the three staff we saw, very friendly, funny and very helpful when we needed anything. We only had one issue we didn’t like and that was the bathroom situation as each time we went to it, we found it to be dirty, no toilet roll or very messy.

It was a nice place to stay. Close to the town centre.
Mojdeh, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Friendly, quirky hostel in a convenient location by the Jewellery Quarter. Great value for money with friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of places to charge phones etc and good quality WiFi. Only improvement I'd suggest is the beds, which were roomy but not the most comfortable.
