Online, the property looks fantastic. As you drive towards the hotel the outside is stunning, but as you get inside, you can see it’s in desperate need of repair.
I arrived Friday evening, and when I went to check-in, I was given my key and went to my room. The AC wasn’t working, and after trying to fix it I called reception and asked for someone to come and look at it, as it was truly too hot with no window available to open. An hour later, no one had come after being told “5 minutes”. I went to reception to speak to the manager, who turned up 10 minutes later and promised to come look at the issue. After 20 minutes waiting, i was given a new room instead. It was clean, toiletries and tea/coffee facilities, so I cannot complain.
The building itself and the grounds are just so run down and in desperate need of repair and upkeep. I went for a walk and found a pile of fire extinguishers, an abandoned gazebo and long-forgotten tennis courts.
I didn’t eat at the hotel, and glad I hadn’t. The prices were quite high, the food that I did see didn’t look particularly appetising, and there was one vegetarian option, nothing vegan.
I wouldn’t recommend this hotel until it has had some upgrades; it was truly like stepping back in time, but not in the good way…
