Nice front desk but small space
Very nice, friendly front desk. The room is small, but clean but not good for someone with a large suitcase unless they reserve a bigger room than single.

Comfy hotel in Takaoka
The best part was that the hotel is directly linked to the JR train station. It made my life easier. The quality of service at the front desk was great! Friendly, respectful, and warm.
The room was somewhat small but clean.

Manten
The housekeepers were excellent. Everything was replaced, and cleaned. There were not enough towels, and the pillows were terrible.
The breakfast servers were welcoming and cheerful every morning.
There is no English newspaper or English station on the TV.
This hotel really can’t accommodate Westerners. The front desk people do not really understand English. I asked one evening to have a reservation made for dinner, and the front desk clerk nodded she had done it. When I got to the restaurant, I was told they were booked. I had it written in Japanese what I wanted, but she was unable to communicate back to me the answer.

good for Local travellers
The hotel was at good location. It is near station. Room have hot water cattle but no coffee or black tea was provided. Only Japanese tea was provided. Restaurant "Bon" was not having many choices for vegetarian food. Breakfast is not good if you want to have continental breakfast. Even English breakfast tea was not available.

Convenient Location
Wished the bed was softer after sleeping on the floor in Japanese homes I had visited. The room was small but comfortable for one person. Great view of the town at night and dawn. Good Wi-Fi connection in the room. Very convenient location to catch trains. Impressive offerings of breakfast and friendly staff.
