Perfectly situated for exploring central London. 10 minute walk to Paddington station and 3 minutes to the tube. Directly across the road from Kensington gardens and 15 minutes in foot to Notting Hill. As for the hotel itself, it does what it says on the tin. Staff are wonderful, decor is old English (which we absolutely loved!). Bring back the trend of olive green bathrooms I say! Bed was comfortable and the room was clean. I don’t think you’ll find a better hotel for the price. £400 for 3 nights opposite Kensington Palace? Don’t mind if I do!

The staffs are very helpful. It was really nice that they upgraded my room to a bigger room, very kind of them. There are other newer hotels nearby with a cheaper rate - and better experience in terms of hotel amenities. This hotel is just instagramable outside of your room. The room itself is somewhat stuck in the 70s, no air conditioning, but a fan is provided, toilet is also in need of an upgrade. The bar or breakfast, lobby area is very picturesque, but tables are somewhat sticky. Location of the hotel is extremely good! Nearby the tube, and opposite Hyde Park. Amazing. The overall experience was OK, was it exactly value for money? Probably if you do not mind a slightly worn down vibe of the hotel.

The breakfast was relatively cheap compared to popping into a coffee shop. The happy hour was a great price, £7 for a double G&T and the bar area is really lovely. The decor as others had mentioned was dated but it was all very clean and the location was excellent. Given its history as a favorite hotel for rock stars I highly recommend the owners play this up a bit. Maybe modernize the decor and have posters for concerts and albums of bands and artists that have stayed there. Overall for the price it was an excellent deal and I’d recommend staying there.

Everywhere was very clean, beds were comfy, and staff were polite! Only downsides were: the showerhead was a quite small which made it hard to rinse hair well, and it was tricky to figure out how to switch the water from bath to shower so maybe a sign to explain it would be useful. No mini fridge or safe either. No aircon, but they had provided a fan for us which helped a bit! Good for the price and a nice location.

You have to know what this place is before you book it. This is a Victorian-era hotel with a 70s vibe, and if that's your jam, you're going to have a great time. The quirk is part of the charm. If you're looking for a modern hotel with all the amenities and in-room appliances, this probably isn't the place for you. But for what it is, it's a clean, well-kept hotel with genuinely friendly staff.

Helpful and courteous staff allowed us very early check-in because a room was available - much appreciated after a red-eye flight. Hotel room was exactly as pictured. Clean and comfortable. The location next to Hyde park is wonderful. It's about a 10 minute walk to the closest Tube station, and about 15 minutes walk from Paddington Station. I didn't use use the dining room or any other amenities so have no comments there.
