A 24 Hour break in paradise
Our stay at the Royal Hotel was very enjoyable. The staff, food and accommodation was first class. This is a beautiful vintage hotel which maintains a high standard in all areas. The beach and carpark are both a short walk from the premises.

Royal Treatment at The Royal
I received The Royal Treatment at The Royal thanks to the outstanding service provided by the manager, Seda, and the wonderful wait staff in the hotel's restaurant! Excellent location too! Yes, I highly recommend The Royal!

Parking our vehicle was quite difficult with a limited number of spaces which were difficult to navigate. We did enjoy sitting outside in the garden enjoying refreshments. We did like Ventnor and the Isle of Wight.

The property was gorgeous. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was located a short walk from the ocean and from the town. Staying at The Royal Hotel was a pleasurable experience that made my time on Isle of Wight exceptional.

Very friendly restaurant staff. Reception team efficient and very helpful. Asked us about a ramp for my son's wheelchair anytime we came in and out of the hotel. Afternoon tea was an excellent experience. Since covid this is the 1st place that did housekeeping which really made us feel we were on a holiday.

A two day break.
I booked late so the restaurant was fully booked but they made space for me in the conservatory. The staff could not be kinder or more helpful. The food is outstanding. I always look forward to returning.

Nice hotel in a good location
Beautiful hotel located close to the beach although there is a very steep hill down to the promenade so not ideal for anyone with mobility issues. Staff were very welcoming and efficient and I particularly liked that breakfast was made to order (also a good selection). Only negatives was shower pressure was not great and my breakfast wasn’t hot.

This has an old-world graciousness and courtesy which is sadly lacking in many facets of life in 21st century. The quiet, relaxing ambience, and the feeling that nothing is too much trouble is the strength of this lovely old hotel. Really excellent food. Superbly comfortable beds. Lovely sea views.

Probably the best service, I have had in this country and that comes from a former travelling salesman. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Lovely rooms. Fantastic breakfast. We also had lunch there and the food was lovely. The bar's a tad expensive. Will be going back.

Quality Hotel would recommend
We had a wonderful overnight stay. They kindly upgraded our room on arrival to a ‘garden view room’ which was lovely and the view from our window was not just the garden & terrace area but a fantastic view of the sea. It was also only a short 5 min stroll down to the sea front. We had cocktails in the bar in the evening, but on this occasion didn’t dine in. However, breakfast service was excellent. Staff were courteous and friendly and we would happily recommend this hotel. It’s more of an ‘oldy worldly’ experience with a lovely bar area and lounge areas. It felt like the grandeur of stepping back in time. It was a relaxing experience and we look forward to future stays.

Royal in every way!
Old World Service! This hotel knows how to treat you. Nothing was too much to ask. Great location just up the hill from the beach. Food was amazing. And, when there was no taxi to take us to the train station, Steve, the night porter drove us! All the staff were over the top; Amanda and Janice at breakfast. Can’t say enough about the level of service! Our room was lovely with a comfy bed. Beautiful grounds. Wonderful piano player at dinner. Fun to lounge at the pool in the sun and order cocktails. We gushed over this place for days. It will be a special memory for a very long time. 10!

Stayed at The Royal hotel in August
This is a well preserved 4 star hotel with excellent service and food. Do not expect air conditioning. There is a lift for access to upper floors. The beds are comfortable. Ensuite bathroom may not have an extract fan but a window is provided. In bedroom. Clothes cupboard is quite small but there are drawers in side tables and desk. Small colour tv is mounted on wall. Kettle tea making facilities, biscuits and complimentary water bottles provided.

Avoid if you can
Avoid room 17 and presumably a few more rooms affected by the presence of the kitchen extractor fan just outside their windows. I didn't mind the pretty awful view on the back of the hotel but this extractor fan came on every morning at 7:00 and wasn't turned on until they had finished the dinner service at night. Not much chance to get any sleep when it's on. Very unsympathetic response when I asked to be moved, clearly used to people complaining and as they were apparently full nothing they could do. Overall the hotel looks tired and in need of a complete refit. Food was quite disappointing too, breakfast very average, dinner not up to much and service erratic. Shame that such a lovely building in such a nice setting is being let down by a lack of investment and uncaring staff. Not that many alternatives in Ventnor so I feel they're just not interested in trying any harder.
