Fantastic location walkable to the Hoe,Barbican, centre and train station . Staff are very friendly and helpful, great addition to have a small bar on the premises. Easy to get a cab if needed. An impressive looking building in an ideal location, situated not far from the waterfront with friendly staff to greet us. However, that's where the advantages ended. We were given the key to a very tired looking room, with loose and ripped wallpaper, the whole room required some much needed tlc. The mattress was uncomfortable and the shower screen in the bathroom needed maintenance. We had no hot water for the length our stay and by the following morning we had no water from the hot tap at all, which was also loose. As we were checking out there was clearly a plumbing issue as buckets and towels were placed in several places on the ground floor. The staff were clearly busy and unavailable for me to comment about our experience at The Grovsener, had we been staying for more than one night I would of insisted of being moved to another room. We are regular visitors to Plymouth and will probably not be making another booking here.

Clean room, nice friendly staff. In the small single room the shower needs updated and water pressure. But way more importantly the pillow and mattress were the worst I have ever come across to the extent I considered sleeping on the floor. On a postive note the room is exceptionally clean.

First of all, say that the hotel system gives you a room, it has nothing to do with the reception. The system awarded me a room that was not very prepared yet, it smelled a lot of paint and had no little soaps, but without any problem I told Paul and he assigned me in another room much better with everything I needed. He was very friendly at all times with me, helpful apologized and gave incredible attention. No noise to sleep, the bed was a little soft on the mattress, but I was able to rest well, they go every day to check you out and clean the room and ask you if you need anything. and check out at 11:00 pm.
