Canoeing or climbing in the Gorges du Gardon is perfect for all skill levels. The source of the Gardon river is sourced from high in the Cévennes, and it flows into the Rhône 127 kilometres further on. On its journey, the river has forged the splendid Gorges du Gardon, in the heart of the Gard region. The spectacular contrast marked out by the gorges in the landscape invites climbers, both beginners and experienced, to climb its rocky routes.

And if you are a more down-to-earth type, but not afraid to get wet, why not discover the gorges from below by renting a canoe or kayak, for example from the village of Collias or Remoulins.

Take a boat trip or walk along the Canal du Midi

Enjoy a peaceful stroll along the water

Take a boat trip or walk along the Canal du Midi
    • Families
    • History
    • Photo

The Canal du Midi was dug in the 17th century, and the construction project, considered the largest of the time, lasted fifteen years. Plus it has been on UNESCO's World Heritage List since 1996. Once a commercial route, the canal is now mainly used for recreation. Now you've done your revision, it's time for the practical!

For a few hours or a day, climb on board a barge or take the wheel of a small electric boat. Maybe you'd prefer to take advantage of the shade offered by the plane trees on the tow paths on foot? This is a family stroll that's highly recommended for walkers who prefer to remain on the flat!
