    Don’t bother
Truly one of the worst ‘5*’ hotels I’ve stayed in. Very friendly staff but awful rooms, terrible pool and ‘spa’ area, lifeless bar and all round tired feel. A grand building in the heart of the city that is desperately in need of full refurbishment. The Kimpton has much better rooms and bar and the Sheraton a vastly better spa and pool area. Do not waste your money.

5 star hotel, 1 star plumbing
Staff are first class, public areas immaculate, rooms are good size and beds comfortable. Only slight issue we experienced was lack of hot water for showers on 2 of the 4 mornings during our stay. This was reported to reception, but was put down to size of hotel (?). Other than that, good hotel and would probably use again, but push for hot water if problem occurs again.

    10/10 - fantastic 2 night stay
My wife and my 4 year old daughter stayed at the Waldorf for 2 nights to celebrate my daughters 4th birthday. Prior to arrival the hotel contacted me to ask if I had any special requirements which we dont, I did mention my daughters birthday as the reason for travel. Upon arrival all employees were excellent - very welcoming and they all made a real fuss over my daughter. Our room wasnt ready so we had a drink in the Peacock bar where my daughter was surprised with s birthday cupcake. Upon arrival to our room she was further surprised with a card, a birth chocolate plate and a teddy (highland cow named hamish) all of which my daughter loved. The room was big, clean and well decorated. Breakfast was fantastic - I travel a lot for work and I can honestly say it was the best quality and selection that I have experienced in the UK. Kris was especially pleasant and helpful at breakfast. Overall I could not fault the stay. We will definitely stay again and I would recommend the hotel to everyone. All of the staff that we encountered were a real credit to the hotel and the brand, notably Henry (our concierge) and Kris (breakfast waiter)

    Just fabulous!
We stayed here for a night following a theatre trip. The hotel was fantastic! The staff were absolutely lovely from the lovely welcome from the door men to the reception staff and the staff who served at the bar and breakfast. Everyone made our stay extra special. The rooms we booked (2 rooms, Castle view) were beautiful. A big shout out to the cleaning staff, they were immaculate with lovely complimentary toiletries. We would not hesitate to return to this hotel and are planning another stay!

    perfect stay
Our short 2 Days was fantastic, the use of the swimming pool itself was a bonus. The staff were polite and helped with heavy cases and shopping bags, info asked regarding directions we wanted was given. The bed was large comfort and the many pillows helped our needed sleep after walking many hours along the Xmas Market. Our stay was perfect and we give visitors to Edinburgh stay at the Waldorf Astoria The Caledonian.
