We stayed here for 2 weeks in June 2016 and was one of our best hotel holidays. Our room was comfortable, overlooking the pool and sea views, clean, shady balcony and very effective curtains, such that we overslept on many days! Most of the other guests appeared to be mainly a mix of older British, French and Germans which produced a civilised atmosphere and was quiet at night. The hotel was in good position for the town, restaurants and transport. The room was very clean and breakfast was good. Staff were always very helpful. However our room was dark, with only one window facing a narrow street. Other than That, we had a lovely stay.
I stayed at Ocean Gardens Hotel for two weeks in March 2015. The staff were friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. The hotel was clean and comfortable (although the mattress on the bed was a bit too hard for my liking). Rooms were serviced daily.
Downside - this hotel is on the outskirts of Funchal, which could be an inconvenience if you wished to be in the middle of everything, but does run a shuttle bus to the town centre - which is free.

We really liked this hotel. We arrived before check-in time but our room was ready, clean and comfortable. Plenty of wardrobe space and drawers and lots of clothes hangers which isn't always the case. As we had left home at 3.30am we were ready for an early lunch and although the restaurant didn't open until 12.30 they were happy to serve us something at 12.10. Brilliant location, really great apartment. Nice and modern and clean. If you want to use the sofa bed you have to specfically tell them ahead of time and we didnt so the bed wasnt made up but we called them and their communication was brilliant and they did it very quickly. Mariana at customer services was very helpful you also need to ensure you have the code to check in we didnt so we had to call when we arrived too. Overall though great aprtment and and I do recommend.
Our 7th visit to the beautiful Miramar /Village Hotel and each time it gets better. The setting in lush gardens sets the scene for a really relaxing time. This hotel was a wonderful choice and every bit as good as the pre-trip ratings and reviews suggested it would be. Just back from a week at the Imperatriz (7th to 14th November) and overall found it excellent. It ticked all the boxes as regards what I wanted which was somewhere clean, comfortable, facility to make breakfast in the room, in a good location, public transit access (bus stops) nearby and reasonably priced.

The hotel is modern with all amenities, including a state of the art gym and rooftop bar and pool complex. It is well located just off the old town and opposite a large supermarket.
