Delightful hotel ideal for exploring museums

Charming historic hotel in quiet area, ideal for visits to major museums. All staff very helpful and welcoming and full of advice on how to make the most of visit. Very good breakfasts but area lacks a range of restaurants for evening meals. However tram stop only a few minutes away, giving access to city centre which is also walkable distance.

    great 3-bed with my kid

Even though it's a small hotel and we had 3 in the room, it felt very spacious. The decor was classy and the ceilings were high. We have stayed in much smaller 3-bed/family rooms and this one was really a relief. I stayed with my partner and our 5yr old.I picked this hotel because the rooms looked larger then comprable room and and thankfully the room matched my expectations.

    Lovely stay

Was an amazing stay. Stayed in a small double room, was the perfect size and had a lovely view from out window. The staff were so friendly; nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend a sty here

Absolutely lovely stay, can't recommend this hotel enough. Fabulous location and the staff are so friendly, helpful and welcoming. We would not hesitate to return. Our room and wonderful and there was always cold water available free of charge in the reception. The staff always provided us with fresh milk whenever we asked for it and their knowledge of the local area was excellent.

    Perfect location with lovely staff

Lovely characterful hotel with Art Deco bar - please keep during refurbishment - and lovely, helpful staff. Free fruit, mints and iced water in reception - staff are very kind and helpful. Bed super-comfortable, bathroom very chic. Good size wardrobe. Room was quiet overlooking garden - more soundproofing might help, but guests were the problem rather than the building. People shouting and yelling in hallways and slamming doors were a pity. Kettle in room needed changing but I had a travel kettle with me. A small chest of drawers in the room would be helpful as there was no drawer space and there was room for one. Free toiletries in bathroom - shower hot and towels changed daily. Location is excellent and the place feels homely. Did not try cooked breakfast but it smelled delicious - cooked bacon and coffee filled the hallways in the morning. Would definitely stay again. Everyone staying there seemed very happy to be there and the staff take time to talk to you and help with any travel plans.

Below par hotel & be careful with valuables

Nice area but hotel no where near up-to the mark. Don't forget your adapter they charge $15 vS $3 in the shop around the corner. My Channel Blu perfume was also stolen from my room,100% new bottle just bought for a £100 at the airport, I will be reporting it to my local police station as advised by Amsterdam Police, this has never happened to me before & I live in hotels all over the world, I am very upset. The room was so small & very little light coming through the window.

Near museums, 30 mins. walk to city centre, but quiet residential street with tram at the bottom of the road. We were upgraded to a bigger room which was both spacious and cozy, adequate bathroom with good shower and amenities. Staff very polite and friendly. Slight negatives were small coffee mugs and they use creamer instead of milk. Otherwise a great hotel and well recommended.

    Perfect Location with Excellent Staff

I spent 3 nights at the Hotel Aalders and am extremely happy that I did. The location is perfect for culture with Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Moco Museum all within 5 minutes walk. Further afield, Hermitage Amsterdam, Willet-Holthyusen Museum, Dutch Costume Museum and Ann Frank House are all less than half an hour's walk away. Central Station is 8 stops on the tram (or a 35 minute walk). Breakfast is a fixed price, eat-as-much-as-you-can affair with scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon as well as pastries, cereals, fresh fruit and various drinks. For dinner there is plenty of choice for eating out, with numerous restaurants within easy walking distance. All the staff I encountered were friendly and seem genuinely happy to help you with any queries. The room was immaculate and felt fresh and up-to-date. I highly recommend this hotel if you are planning on visiting Amsterdam.
