    Gibraltar short break.
After all the covid issues that are going on,gibralter was the safest option and some good weather, overall we had a lovely stay.they were very short staffed( because the virus issue)but very friendly and the food was good to.i think the caleta hotel needs a bit of TLC & a good clean on balcony areas as there was birds droppings etc and dusty, never cleaned.,and on other balconeys to,sea view balcony tiny ,enough for 1 really feel for them there and in the town restaurants as covid has decimated the staffing levels comming accross the border to keep Gib running.hope it all comes back together for them all in the future,

    Not great...
Bearing in mind this is during the Covid-19 outbreak and many things were locked down we decided to go 'away' to the Caleta even though we live in Gibraltar. We left only a couple of hours after arriving. The lady at the reception desk was lovely and well presented and helpful and we can't fault her at all however there's very little to do there. There's the spa area which isn't included in the £100+ a night price tag and a swimming pool and that's pretty much it. The bars were shut (government Covid rules) but the onsite restaurant was open offering a set menu. There's very little to do in the area of the hotel and as Gibraltar was locked down there's nothing touristy to do either. As for the hotel itself it could do with freshening up the guest rooms. There were patches of plaster next to the door of the balcony which hasn't been painted over. We got there at 4pm and there were still breakfast trays in the hallway waiting to be cleared away. We weren't very impressed and decided it would be better to leave rather than stay and be bored.

Mini break in Gibraltar at the Caleta hotel
The room was a decent size, but in need of some attention, great view, balcony very small only really room for one on it. Location good as was local transport into the town. We ate at the Italian on site on one evening and the food was delicious and comparable in price to home The pool was not open and was a lot smaller than expected. The whole hotel is due for renovation in the near future, so will soon hopefully have the uplift it requires. All the staff are polite and helpful.

Friendly staff and next to the sea
Opted to walk there from the airport. Only a mile or so. Decided to get in via the back entrance, not realising that it was closed due to building work. Friendly workmen showed us the correct way. Bus stop outside hotel. All-day senior ticket only £1.50, otherwise £2.50. Used one of the frequent buses most days but a level walk to town. Saw dolphins just off the coast. Didn't eat there as thought it was a bit pricey but the room rate was good and the room had everything - coffee making, toiletries, toothbrush etc. Clean and tidy - would recommend.

or me the best hotel I've stayed at
This is an easy to get to hoel overlooking the Med: and it's on both the Route 4 & 8 bus services. The Nunos restaurant si Med Fusion and overlooks the sea. Very romantic, really gorgeous and great fodo and wine - with attentive waiters. The apartments on the 5th floor are the best but all the rooms are well appointeed, attractively decorated adn furnished. The hotel is extremely elegant and very reminiscent of the Roaring 20s - but with all the comfort of the C21st.

Overall fantastic - would love to return here!
We absolutely loved this hotel!! The building is a gorgeous example of art-deco architecture and is so well presented inside. The only downside for me was carpet in the gym, which didn't seem the cleanest idea, but I'm sure this won't affect most people. The service we received was fantastic; all the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely, with a balcony and view of the rock. The bed was huge, and the comfiest hotel bed I've come across. There were just British plug sockets in the room, which were great for what we had brought to use. The mini-bar fridge and built-in hairdryer had 2-pin plugs however, and there wasn't a 2-to-3 pin adapter in the room. We weren't in desperate need of these items, but it was a bit odd. The location is away from the main part of Gibraltar, on the Eastern side of the rock. We quite liked this as it was so much quieter. We walked there from the airport in about 30 minutes and it was a straightforward walk. The pool area outside the hotel is gorgeous, and there is a set of steps fown the rock straight into the sea (2.5m depth) which was great for swimming. We had booked a room without meals, so I can't comment on the quality of the continental breakfast food. A special check-in prive of £8.50pp seemed a little steep for us so we didn't add it on. The bar and restaurant food was lovely though; we had sandwiches a few times during our stay, and ate one night in the hotel's Italian restaurant which was lovely.

    Lovely location
We really enjoyed the coastal location of this hotel, with easy access to the main town via the regular bus service and its good value 'Hoppa' fares. The hotel was comfortable and the staff welcoming. We would definitely stay there again.
