Near to the beautiful Sefton Park, a short bus ride from Liverpool City Centre, this is a traditional style hotel in old buildings. Staffing is minimal but covering all that is necessary for those, like me, looking for comfortable accommodation as a base for other activities in the City and Region beyond. This includes North Wales. A more than adequate continental style breakfast is provided. Recommended.

My fiancé and I really like this hotel, this was actually the second time we've stayed here and we will stay again in the future. The interior of the building is beautiful, done in the style of an old mansion of the early 1900s where the lady of the family would receive visitors in the drawing room and the staff would bring tea and tiny sandwiches! The rooms are like that too, with an old world feel that is part of the charm of the place. Also the staff are really lovely and friendly and welcoming. We had breakfast here too, we liked it, it's mostly 'cold' breakfast items but there was a toaster too and also a slow cooker keeping some porridge warm. There were some utter snobs (other hotel guests) in the breakfast room complaining about it because it wasn't a full cooked breakfast but there was nothing wrong with it, if you want something more fancy then go somewhere else and pay more for your stay! This hotel is lovely, thank you staff for an enjoyable stay there.

Room was clean but tired. Bath had been patched up and bathroom needed a refresh. Rusty radiator cracked sink and mould on seals. Staff were helpful. Check in was antiquated you need a physical credit card as they hold £50 and photo ID which I was not expecting. One staff member doing parking system, check in and bar so a bit slow. Breakfast was poor. Instant coffee solid porridge made in a slow cooker, toaster did not toast and a poor selection of food. Cheddar and Red Leicester cheese and cucumber. Pastries were not fresh. Hard boiled eggs were good. Nice location and close to Lark lane and Sefton. Convenient for Uni drop off in Wavertree.

The staff were very helpful. The room was old and needs updating. The bathroom was very small and the shower over the bath couldn't be used properly without the floor getting wet. The glass shower screen had no seal on the bottom where it meets the side of the bath. Breakfast was very basic and consisted of cereals, toast, a few cooked meats and a bit of cheese. There were boiled eggs, but mine had black yokes where the eggs had been over boiled. Parking is good if you get there early enough.

This is a cool, slightly funky/charming British hotel. Lovely decor, not a cookie-cutter hotel. The staff are absolutely excellent. Exterior doors are a bit funny, with various little signs taped up about how to get in and out, and the layout of my room was unique - clearly a re-purposed space. But the bed and bathroom were fantastic. I’d recommend the Mountford for those who want a little taste of proper England for their visit (note: actual British people were staying there, always a good sign!)

While this place is a little out from the city center, the bus stop is right out front, and the staff were really helpful with telling us which busses to take and where to go. The bathroom in our room was pretty basic, with minimal amenities. The community room was nice, and we hung out in there each night to watch the last bit of the World Cup. One thing that really bothered us, and everyone else eating at the time, was the breakfast. There was hardly any food left by the time we got there, which was nowhere near the end of the breakfast time. And from what we could tell, the options they had before we got there were pretty minimal. If we stayed there again, we would just plan to eat breakfast out. It is a pretty cool building, with a lot of character.

On arrival, the receptionist was unfriendly, her direction about where the rooms were was very poor and despite going back to her, she did not bother to physically move to support. This is after she asked if it was the first time for us to stay in the hotel. I did not feel that it was necessary to pay £100 deposit for our stay. I have never experienced this in bigger/ higher quality hotels. The beds were very uncomfortable. A different receptionist on our check out the next day, was very friendly and helpful.
