Too much noise - too hot in the rooms and no airco
The room was relatively small but pleasant - excellent bathroom. Main problem is that there is no window to the exterior. The window is situated on a tiny court with no air at all, so extremely hot, and there is no airco. The “walls” are paper thin and you can hear everything from other rooms. There are toilets in the corridor, probably for those rooms without private toilets, so you can hear the doors and toilets water all night. Very uncomfortable night!

Quaint building, beware the basement.
I booked a normal sized double room for our 2 night stay but when we arrived the only room of this type that they had was in the basement overlooking a scruffy inner area with building products that had been left everywhere, the room felt damp and was dingy. I asked for another room as I was not happy to stay in the basement and the only availability was a small double on the ground floor which at least felt better but was really tiny, probably maximum 2 metres by 3.5 for the room and a tiny bathroom. But it was clean and furnished well and had a comfy bed. The receptionist when we arrived questioned why I didn't want a basement room and didn't offer any apology for the room not appearing as on the web site etc. I spoke to a far friendlier receptionist later on and he agreed to move us the following day to a double room on the 3rd floor, which was very nice and what we were expecting in the first place. And because of having to sleep one night in the mini room he gave us breakfast vouchers for our trouble which we appreciated so well done to him. Beware that there are quite a few rooms in the basement so there will always be a risk of this, they could really brighten up the areas that are overlooked by these rooms so that guests don't feel cheated if they end up in one of these rooms. If you have trouble with mobility the stairs are steep which is typical of the old buildings in Amsterdam. There was a lift for the first 2 floors. Breakfast was nice.

Short break
No problems with Hotel once we had changed rooms, we didn't like the underground room (no window to look out of and weird smell) we were offered so moved up a floor.
