Although the hotel is being renovated we were upgraded to bed and breakfast after booking a sea view room. The ballroom where breakfast was served was magnificent and full of history. Will definitely be back!!

Hotel is in a great location and we loved our stay here. She's a grand old lady who is looking a little past her best but is kept tidy and clean and is undergoing some refurbishment. Has everything you need and in a great location for walking everywhere in Brighton. Would definitely stay again

The room was good and staff helpful. The hotel is undergoing a big refurbishment which is good because it needs it.

Hotel looked very dated, it needs a complete renovation, the room was okay in terms of cleanliness but the bathroom was in need of complete change there was no air conditioning but there was a fan which was adequate. The bed was clean and reasonably comfortable. The breakfast was of very low quality not worth the price.

Let down with the upgrade should have closed the hotel with all the work going on not good to see builders outside your window on a Sunday morning when getting dressed . F, staff very friendly and helpful, with all this going on.

Very friendly staff. Breakfast was good. The bar is undergoing refurbishment so more limited than on previous visits but we were still well looked after.

Well, the staff at The Old Ship were as always, delightfully polite and helpful. However, due to the refurbishment that is about to close the place down for a number of months, the atmosphere was not its usual sunny self. The whole frontage is covered in scaffolding which doesn't look great. I hope the character of the Old Ship is retained, with its oldie world vibe, and it doesn't become too new and shiny and 'corporate'. Best of luck!

Hotel was in the middle of refurb so not the best experience. Staff were nice. Breakfast very limited. No cheese ham or tomatoes and cucumber. Weak

It's the same as always. The location is convenient and the staff are friendly and helpful. It doesn't have many lifts and they are slow. While the property is clean, it is very run down. It's also noisy which is to be expected given the location but they provide you with ear plugs which is never a great sign. Give the place a lick of paint, invest in better windows, and maybe sort out the lifts and it would be ideal.

Fabulous, oldest hotel in Brighton but unfortunately while that added to the charm it also was apparent in the state of the rooms, however, I understand they are redoing them all in the next while. The rooms, although quite shabby looking, were clean & comfortable. Great location

Unfortunately, the sea view was compromised by the mass building works on the outside of the hotel. I feel as though I should’ve been warned about this upon booking! I paid extra for a sea view. This was really disappointing. The TV didn’t work and the hotel phone didn’t work. We found some crisps on the carpet when we arrived and a dirty tissue by the fridge. The history of the hotel was interesting but the decor and furniture was tired looking. The staff that we encountered were all lovely.

My overall experience was great. The hotel is going through improvements scaffolding outside et cetera. Some of the hotel is very tired. The reception area is lovely. The staff are wonderful and is in a fantastic place for everything in Brighton. I’ve stayed there before and would stay there again I’m sure when everything has finished the hotel will be a wonderful place once again. Staff were very helpful.

Hotel was being refurbished so not in a very good state outside. The inside was ok but very dated. The room had a ceiling fan which was great as heatwave when we stsyed. The Staff very friendly. The bar was closed at 10.00 so couldnt get an after dinner drink. We were only there for one night for the price it was ok.
