Great base for a family trip to Chester Zoo
We booked the hotel for a short family break to Liverpool and Chester Zoo. It was a great location and there was a unique feel to the hotel. The staff were great, and gave us some really good pointers on where to visit, including the World Museum which is well worth a visit. There was a train station just down the road which takes you to Chester where you can get a bus to the zoo. The room was lovely, and had bedside sockets (it’s shocking how many places don’t these days). The bathroom was particularly impressive, with a giant water jet bath and waterfall shower. The only improvements I’d like to see to the room are bedside lights. There was only one main light (a beautiful chandelier), which meant it wasn’t possible to lower the lighting. It was all or nothing. There’s no parking at the hotel so we left the car at a nearby Q Park car park. It wasn’t terribly cheap, but we’d factored it in before booking the hotel, and the car park was easily accessible, well lit and secure.

Excellent short break with family
Stayed in Junior Suite with 2 children (14 & 12) - plenty of room, loved the jacuzzi bath and comfortable nights sleep all round. Very good breakfast. Staying in themed rooms/hotel made it a different sort of family break to standard budget hotels and would definitely recommend.

Terrible sleep
The hotel decor was lovely however the walls are so thin I could hear every room down the corridor. There were people in the corridor and in there rooms playing music and shouting until 4am on a Monday morning. Worst nights sleep.

Stay from hell. No sleep and no relaxation.
The stay was a treat for my partner and her mum as a weekend break in Liverpool. Unfortunately it was a stay from hell! They got roughly 1 hours sleep between due to disruptive guess in a joining room. The guess were roaming the corridors, slamming doors, banging on doors, shouting and screaming until 7am and reception were little help and there has been no contact from the manager since. Allegedly the guests causing the disruption were part of a wedding held at the hotel. Why put these guys in a joining room to regular customers, surely this isn’t new grounds for a hotel that holds weddings. When my partner pleaded with reception to move rooms or help, the response was that there were no more rooms available. From what I hear the hotel is lovely and it had great potential but it was let down by the lack of management in the circumstances or disruptive guests.

Wouldn't stay again
Great location. Rooms not very clean. Staff very slow. Building is falling to bits. Soggy carpets full of water from leaks in the building on the main stairs. Overpriced for the condition of the building and service.
